That Lucic contract is just so bad! I’m not sure it’s enough but we’d at least consider it..

If they had the same contract but Weber is making 1.5 more and is signed for six years. If they Had the same contract yes Weber would be worth a 1st and a second

I would say yes but Weber's contract is 3 times longer.

I doubt Lucic waives for Detroit but at the same time Yzerman isn't going to bring Lucic to Detroit. The Wings have a young locker room and Lucic is not some one you want in a young locker room.

When your paying him 8 mil at 40 you’ll probably regret that choice

I don’t know if Lucic waves for Detroit, and I don’t know if Yzerman would take him, but the opportunity to catch a falling player in this draft at 19 would be very exciting.

Weber has 1 year left at $6M salary, then a year at $3M then 3 years at $1M... He is worth more than the 1st and 2nd you are talking about. He is still a force now, and going forward adds leadership and $4M and $6M fake money to reach the cap floor for certain teams... What cheap team owner wouldn't give a 1st + 2nd + ? for $27M dollars in real money savings over 5 years?

Ok but his cap hit is $7,857,143 for the next 6 years correct? Unless a change is made to his contract.

Correct, so $7.857,143 against the cap, while only costing $6M, $3M, $1M, $1M, $1M respectively per season... For any team wanting to just barely reach the floor, thats a valuable contract. Obviously no cap strapped teams will want it. But Ottawa? Arizona? Florida?

You are right and the amount teams actually make or lose has come up a bit do to the COVID-19 stoppage. I think it's safe to say most of the fans here are talking about the cap hit. LTIR comes up a lot on this site and there are a lot of ACGMs here involve LTIR even though the person posting it doesn't really understand how it works. A good percentage of users here don''t have any desire to understand the teams financials past the cap hit. Do you know how much each team made or lost last season or the year before without looking it up? I know how much the Wing's made but only because I looked it up last week for something else. Some of the teams don't care about the profit as long as they win. Look at the Wing's when they were on their Cup run there were 4 or 5 seasons where they didn't break even until the 2nd home game of the conference finals. I'm not saying you are wrong I'm just saying a lot of users just don't care. Now you've made me want to learn more about that aspect of the game.

Ya that's wild, looking at the financials of each players deal starting when they are 37yrs old (since that is what Giordano will be during his final 2yrs);

Giordano
2020-21 season: CAP HIT = 6,750,000, real $ = 6,750,000
2021-22 season: CAP HIT = 6,750,000, real $ = 6,750,000
Total $ left owed = 13,500,000

Weber
2022-23 season: CAP HIT = 7,857,143, real $ = 3,000,000
2023-24 season: CAP HIT = 7,857,143, real $ = 1,000,000
2024-25 season: CAP HIT = 7,857,143, real $ = 1,000,000
2025-26 season: CAP HIT = 7,857,143, real $ = 1,000,000
Total $ left owed = 6,000,000

So from 37 years onward for both players, Giordano is owed 13,5mil$ and Weber is owed 6mil$. Although I understand there is quite a significant difference with cap hit, Weber like @aedoran and @RobbStark03 said, will be a valued asset for a few cap floor teams not willing to spend ACTUAL money to reach the salary cap floor.
