As much as I'd be down to see Mango in teal, I don't think we can afford that deal - we're in a cap crunch as it is, and adding those two players seems like a no-go cost wise. Do you think that True and a third would be enough to get just Johnsson?

Just stick with Holl. Him and Muzzin have been great and it wouldn't cost the kings ransom Devils fans think Severson is worth.

Don't know anything about True. What's his playstyle?

Honestly, he's a prospect I'd be sad to see go - he's a 6'5" center who has 4 points in 12 games with the Sharks, but who has been making steady progress with the Barracuda - he played 68 games in both 17-18 and 18-19 with 28 and 55 points respectively. He had a dip last year and only put up 25 points in 40 games, but he was on easily the youngest and weakest team in the AHL whose coaching staff was absolutely gutted relatively early in the season and I don't think that's indicative of a slide in skill at all. (No, really: the Sharks poached the Cuda's head coach, goalie development coach, and general development coach and they wound up with two assistant coaches promoted up to being interim co-head coaches. That was it. The coaching staff wasn't fleshed out again until literally last week. Yay?)

He's got great hands and can skate surprisingly well given his size, and I'd say that he's got solid potential to be a 3rd line power forward. His biggest flaw in play for my money is that he had a **** ton of dumb pim his first two years on the Cuda, but he pulled that back to 14 minutes in 40 games and from what I saw at the Cuda games I managed to get to, they were significantly better/less dumb/less about losing his cool. He's not afraid to drop gloves or make a hit - he had 23 hits in 12 games with the Sharks and while nobody seems to track hits in the AHL I can promise you that he threw the body a hell of a lot down there.

If he stays with the Sharks I would not be even slightly surprised to see him make the team out of camp to center the 4th line, where I think he would probably thrive. That said, I think one more year in the AHL would probably not be a bad thing for his development, especially not if he were on a team known for good development, like, oh, the Marlies.

He's also Danish, so that would give Andersen someone to talk to in his native language wink

I can't see the Leafs trading Nylander for Severson

Imo that’s more than enough.

True would sure be cheaper than signing Perry for the 4th line RW and gives you a player who can be developed further rather than, like, you know. Corey Perry.

(As a Sharks fan who is rooting for the Stars and who just watched Perry put them up by one, I am VERY CONFLICTED RIGHT NOW)

The problem with Holl, at least the way I see it, is that he's not nearly as good without Muzzin.

It surely isn't..Nylander is a 30-goal scorer on a fair contract for the long term. That's reserved for a legit top-pairing D and that's not Severson. You'd be lucky to get a 1st for Severson at this point unless it's in the bottom 5 of the round.

I'd be glad with that return.
