Interesting trades but I still think it'd be a mistake to trade monahan. If lindholm is good enough to be a #1 center they should have been playing lindholm and monahan as their 1/2 centers.

The only certainty is Backlund is a real 2C. 41st in scoring for centers and probably top 15 defensively at the position. I dont think either Lindholm or Monahan is a real 1C. Lindholm played wing because of lack of options on the right side. Lindholm also played some C with Monahan on the wing.

Panthers decline.

I think they accept. Anton Stralman is washed and nearing the end. Huberdeau has the edge over Gaudreau despite similar production but Hanifin has a wider edge over Stralman's trade value. Perhaps the pick goes on the Flames side given Huberdeau has the extra year over Gaudreau but this value is close given the cost certainty on Hanifin.

That's an easy yes for Florida. Would be idiotic to decline

The "go home" thing is only Philly. I also think it's overblown. Huge family and he's been vocal about liking playing away from his hometown. He chose a junior team, college team, and the Flames (could have walked as UFA) away from Philly. He might like to, but all his actions to date suggest that is a narrative fabricated by serial liar Eric Francis. I think anything in the east gets him close enough to home if his desire is real.

Idk, I have a hard time believing he'd bolt from a tax free state, with one of the best young centres in the world and great team potential, not to mention the beautiful beaches and great weather to go see his mommy.
