Your RFA deals are fair, and the players your targetted in UFA are pretty wise.

That said, you should learn from Van about using up all of your cap before big named Stars need new deals. I think this is a great post of 1 highlighting very reasonable alternatives the Avs could pursue now while also showing how they are in a much bigger cap crunch than people assume. Especially that 12m$ 3rd line and pricey 3rd pairing.

Thankfully the team has Bowers, Kaut, Byram and Timmins

Agreed. I don't think Byram is going to progress much as a scratch. Zadorov or Cole need to be moved (I say Zadorov, he can bring a Haula-type return back).

Locker room likes Zadorov so don’t see him being moved. Avs don’t have much defensive depth outside of Byram (I like Timmins but I’d give him another year in AHL) hence the TVR signing. Nosek signing is a cheap option for PK and more depth down middle in case one of the centers goes down. They have depth on wings but not center

I’d rather have Makar, EJ, Graves, Girard, Cole, Zadorov as the 6 dmen and Byram, TVR, Timmins as the depth options. Byram and TVR are carried with the team as Byram can’t be sent down. Think when EJ went down and Zadorov iffy it really showed the organizational depth at that position. Obviously having both goalies go down didn’t help either but even with Grubauer healthy that’s not enough depth to win a championship

Think they’re going all in this year and money is coming off the books next season. Expect Seattle to take a defenseman, Cole and Grubauer will be gone. That’s $12 million right there. Not to mention Calvert, Bellemare, Nosek/TVR (under this). That’s another like 6 million.

Should have plenty of money to resign Landeskog and others
