I went back and forth on losing McDonagh vs finding good landing spots for Johnson, Coburn, and McElhinney. If they can replace with McDonagh with a guy who won a recent cup at 1LD and is cheaper, they're probably okay.

You do realize that waiving somebody doesn't remove their cap hit right? Are you hoping Detroit helps you out by picking up that monstrosity? I guess anything's possible...

I'm under the assumption that they're using waivers to foster a buyout, that said I think.mcdonagh would for sur e get claimed

So the Lightning are going to carry dead cap for 12 FRICKIN YEARS!!! Lol. Nope. I don't even need to make a counter argument; it makes itself. And I think you'd be suprised how many teams will pass. This is not a normal season...

I just meant in general of wavers, I agree they wouldn't buyout McDonagh

Dodging the NTC. This team can't afford a buyout. He's claimed or he isn't.

He's only signed until he's (checks watch) 36 years old....

And he's still a good #3D at 31. What could go wrong?

He’s been an excellent d man in the playoffs defensively. He’s extremely responsible and I think teams that could afford it should pick him up.

McDonagh isn't going anywhere for at least a year. Sergachev still needs to improve his defense before, I think, Tampa would be comfortable with him being the 2nd LD.

Right. But if a top pairing LD off a recent champ were available for a third line winger? That doesn't change things?
