Here’s a list of UFAs that we know won’t be returning to their current teams. Comment anyone I missed, and I’ll be updating this as we get more news.

Confirmed:
ARI - Michael Grabner (Buyout)
ARI - Taylor Hall
CAR - Trevor van Riemsdyk*
CAR - Sami Vatanen*
CHI - Corey Crawford
COL - Colin Wilson
COL - Kevin Connauton
COL - Michael Hutchison
COL - Mark Barberio
COL - Vladislav Namestnikov*
COL - Matt Nieto*
DET - Trevor Daley
DET - Jonathan Ericsson
DET - Jimmy Howard
LAK - Trevor Lewis
MIN - Mikko Koivu
MTL - Dale Weise
MTL - Karl Alzner (Buyout)
NSH - Kyle Turris (Buyout)
NSH - Steve Santini (Buyout)
NSH - Craig Smith
NSH - Mikael Granlund
NSH - Yannick Weber*
NSH - Korbinian Holzer
NJD - Brandon Baddock
NJD - Kevin Rooney
NJD - Fredrik Claesson
NYR - Henrik Lundqvist (Buyout)
OTT - Craig Anderson
OTT - Mark Borowiecki
OTT - Bobby Ryan (Buyout)
PIT - Jack Johnson (Buyout)
TOR - Kyle Clifford
TOR - Tyson Barrie
TOR - Cody Ceci*
VAN - Tyler Toffoli
WSH - Radko Gudas
WSH - Ilya Kovalchuk
WSH - Braden Holtby*

Very Likely:
MIN - Alex Galchenyuk
NYI - Thomas Greiss
STL - Alex Pietrangelo
VAN - Chris Tanev

Speculation:
BOS - Torey Krug
FLA - Mike Hoffman
MTL - Keith Kinkaid

* Asterisks are beside players that are noted as potential circling back to the same team if the market isn’t there for them.

I’m going to stop including players without QOs, since there’s way too many of them.

Do we have an actual confirmation that Pietrangelo and Tanev aren't returning? I just heard that they were far apart on contract talks

I guess for them we’re not 100% sure. I’ll change it so that they’re in a different category.

Looks like Greiss is heading to FA as well. Although you can chuck him in as likely

Also Galchenyuk had his number taken in Minnesota so it's likely he's gone

He’s definitely gone, just because they already have Sorokin, although there’s been no one saying that he definitely isn’t re-signing. I’ll include him in the very likely category.

All of the ones under confirmed have been confirmed by either the GM, agent, or player involved. And they would most likely be due to a lack of mutual interest, so it’s not like negotiating could change anything.

I don't think Holtby was ever confirmed, though ... McLellan says he's most likely going to FA, but he never confirmed anything.

Greiss should be highly sought after as a UFA. I realize the goalie market will be quite deep this offseason, but he should be much more affordable than Crawford, Markstrom, Khudobin, Lehner, Holtby, etc...He's a solid 1B option for a team that may be right up against the cap that needs to improve their goaltending. Also, Vegas and NYR might have a tough time trading their goalies in such a saturated market.

While not confirmed by the GM, I'd be shocked if Tyson Barrie returns as a Leaf.

Mike Hoffman is almost certainly gone from FLA. But still unconfirmed as far as I know.

Let’s see:
ANA needs a backup if Miller retires.
BUF could go for someone if they want to replace Hutton.
CGY needs a goalie.
CAR could go after Lehner or others as an upgrade.
CHI needs a goalie.
DAL might sign a UFA, (Khudobin) or go with Bishop & Oettinger.
EDM needs a goalie.
MIN is looking for a goalie.
NJD might sign a backup.
OTT might sign someone in case Nilsson is out long-term.
PHI needs a goalie.
SJS needs a goalie.
STL might look for a more experienced backup.
VAN needs a goalie.
VGK needs a goalie.
WPG needs a goalie.

A lot of teams, yeah. I just mentioned the 16/31 teams that I thought might consider signing an NHL-level UFA goalie.

That’s great news for the Leafs. (Maybe not that they gave up Kadri for Kerfoot & 1 year of Barrie, but at least Ceci’s gone)
