That’s such a dumb trade with Minnesota. This draft is deep. The pens likely aren’t getting a top 10 pick, even with this team unless something terrible happens to Crosby. And even if you think this team has a shot at a top 10 pick, why would Minnesota trade that?

Actually tbh, the Vancouver trade is bad too. Bryan rust just had a career year. Taking on a bust and 3rd is way too cheap. 2020 1st at the very least. The Boston trade makes no sense as you should want a 2020 first for Zucker too.

It’s not a trade, it is the Penguins electing to give the 2020 1st instead of the 2021 1st (which I believe the pens can still do, I may be wrong tho). my reasoning is that the pens next year with this team won’t make the playoffs and will have a top 10 pick in 2021 instead of the 15th pick in 2020.

They can’t. They had 7 days to make a decision and elected to keep it. So that trade is over with and can’t change it. And no, this team is likely a 7th-8th seed unless Crosby gets seriously hurt.
