Bro, Staal is still a competent defender and only had a year left. That costed a 2nd rounder.

Yeah Bellows has potential, but NYI still gonna have to give up a 2nd and more to get that Ladd contract out (maybe a 1st)

Bruh easy no to all trades.

Staal cost only a 2nd to move since he has one year left and DET might have some use for the guy.

Not really the case with these other guys.

Bruh, all y’all were saying “at least a 1st to take Komarov” a few days ago. Bottom line is, none of us are insiders, none of us know anything, we all do this for fun. Not saying we can’t get heated now and then, that’s half the fun, but sometimes it’s worth remembering none of us really know what’s going to happen.

All that said, Staal was a different animal from Ladd or Boychuk. Not sure how to feel about it yet. But it IS a good sign.

Needs more than that for Ladd. I wouldn't really want bellows anyway. If you didn't want to trade a pick I'll take wahlstrom

That Staal trade just showed it’ll take more than a 2nd to get rid of the more expensive and longer contract of Boychuck and even more to get rid of Ladd’s 3 years.

Your argument is invalid as Boychuck, Ladd, all have longer term and have bigger cap hits, face it, Boychuck and the other cap dumps are gonna cost a 1st or more to move.

Also every team laughs and says no

Besides teams who have the space will take 1 contract but detroit aint taking anymore. Unless the offer for doing so is insane

If they buy him out then this trade won't really set anything. $4.6M is all it would cost and a 2nd for that is a pretty good deal. $3.7M in year one and $1M in year 2.

Hearing Yzerman on the media zoom call, it sounds like Staal won’t be bought out. If he proves useful, maybe it potentially could be an opportunity to flip Staal at the deadline with retention for more picks.

pretty sure Staal is owed more money than boychuk, but boychuk is just a longer commitment

Yeah Detroit has three young righties. I think this was more about finding veteran partners for them and maybe flipping him at the deadline.
