Switch the third to the other side in the Parise deal, and then change it to a first.

Unless Minnesota wants to pay a 41 year old 7 mil in a few years they’ll accept the trade. No one else is gonna take that contract

If we’re giving up a 1st , then the wild should have to retain 50% on parise

Sorry but that’s dumb. The wild would already be taking back 5.5m in cap and giving up a very productive player. You turn a 5.5m black hole into a 7.5m productive 25g 60p player for 2m more a year. And in real dollars his last 3 years are 4m. As far as anyone should be concerned that’s a 13m cap swing in your favor. And should cost you more. Plus if he retires or you buy out parise, it’ll be cheaper those last few years than Ladd now.

Ok then the trade is dead. The isles have 3 RFAs to sign, they’re not adding salary and trading one of the top 4 D.

Parise costs a total of $2m, $1m, $1m in real money for last 3 years of his deal. The AAV sucks, but really I'll take Parise for those 3 years over Ladd's complete waste of space and hope Parise decides to pull a Hossa and LTIR(etire) his last 2 years when the real money isn't worth it anymore.

Lmao Minnesota is the team paying up when they're giving up a 50 point player for a fringe NHLer? Laughable.

Parise will be on LTIR in 3 years too btw so the term argument is useless

It will be interesting to see if the flat cap prevents this swap from being revisited in the off-season.

The only way this deal happens is if MIN retains minimum 2.5 mill. If not, they can keep Parise and ladd willl once again be buried in the AHL until he eventually gets injured and goes on LTIR

I think the issue there is Parise has been a much better player than Ladd and with the recapture penalty, all the risk of a buyout remains in Minnesota. If they aren't gaining even cap space, why do it?

Guerin wants a culture change and Lou wants to get rid of ladd. The islanders cannot take on any salary this offseason with the flat cap and 3RFA to sign, so like I said unless they retain salary isles can’t take Parise.

How about this. Trade rhe parise for barzal, or else they offer sheet At 10m and you’ll either match and be far more crippled as a team or else they get barzal. That seems a possible outcome, even if one that burns bridges.

They’re gonna match any offer sheet coming Lou already said so plus they’re likely to shed cap this off-season

Leddy is worth a 3rd round pick. Not a 2nd+3rd.

Leddy is a good puck moving defensemen that Barry trotz values. I know a 2nd and 3rd is wishful thinking but it wouldn’t be the 1st time a desperate team overpays for an asset they need.

Why exactly are the Kings desperate? They'd re-sign Ben Hutton and give up nothing before they overpaid for Nick Leddy. If anything, the Isles are desperate for cap space and will need to move him for less than his value.

They need a lhd and it seems the market is thin. He has a Stanley cup as well as a lot of experience which could benefit a young team with a young defense. Like I said it’s wishful thinking and even if it’s not the kings I’m hoping some sucker would do it. I definitely think you can get a second for leddy though. Too bad Peter chiarelli ain’t around for us to fleece anymore lol

If Pittsburgh wasn't already spending $17.5M on LHD, I'd suggest looking to GMJR. With Vegas reportedbly being interested in Pietrangelo, they're looking to offload Martinez's contract. I wouldn't be surprised if the Kings bring Martinez back this offseason and trade him back to Vegas as a rental at the trade deadline next season.
