Well the second guy to comment is a massive Leaf hater so he can't be trusted. Marner alone is worth a pile more than Ellis, due mainly to age. After that, TO gives up their best RHD prospect who is very highly valued by the team and a decent C prospect. Yes they get a 1st back as well as Ellis but the age difference and Ellis' contract nullify his worth compared to a 23 year old superstar. It's just a poor idea for the Leafs. Creates long term problems and a massive hole to fill upfront.

Defensemen take longer to develop. Liljegren has been one of the best defensemen in the AHL in the last few seasons and is still considered one of the leafs highest ranked prospects. He still holds a lot of value, and he face that people have already given up on his is stupid. Shea Theodore was a bit of a late bloomer but look at how he turned out

I do have a bias towards the Flames that's not really a debate. He is not a generational talent LMAO, he is a franchise level player. Matthews has never once been considered the best player in the league and probably never will be. That doesn't mean he is bad though. Franchise level players are extremely good. All those listed players have value but its not something absurd like a 1st. Andersen may be able to fetch a 1st if there were only 1 or 2 other goalies on the market but definitely not while there are 10-12.

Matthews is legit so underrated. He's literally the best at scoring 5v5, it can't be debated. His defensive stats are all better than everyone considered better than, MacKinnon is close. He's going to he considered the 3rd best or 2nd best player on the planet but you'll say he's just good.
