Seems like St. Louis has made it quite clear they won't go that high for Pietrangelo. No sense in throwing away a 1st rounder when he's as good as gone

I’m surprised they wouldn’t go $8.5 for him.

Well if that's your logic then it's terrible. Once he officially hits free agency teams will easily offer him more

If it costs us more to dump Steen than it did to dump staal, that's just bad GMing. Steen has slowed down but can still play, staal has been sub-replacement level ever since the poor guy went blind in one eye.

I was going to place a 2nd Rd pick but the Blues are missing those...I guess I should have balanced the 1st Rd pick trade out by getting the Wings to offer a 2nd to 4th Rd back in return.

Name a Cup contender, other than the Av's, which can give Pietro $9 + without moving a couple cash dumps first ?

I'd be cool with the 2022 2nd + steen for FC as a max. Even late in the round, those 1st rd picks are gonna be crucial to keep some sort of pipeline going.

From a Detroit perspective I’d give a third back in the trade. Yzerman plans on using Staal to help mentor our young blue liners and we already have a ton of bottom 6 vets so it would probably be a buyout per Steen’s request since he has a NTC.

And the Blues would never feed the media false information to benefit the team.

I mean, if that's what they're doing they better hurry up. Free agency is right around the corner. Not to mention that Pietrangelo himself said talks have never went well.
