Trades

BOS-NYI Trade
Agreed upon trade on this site. Bruins acquire a top-4 LHD to replace Torey Krug and a young NHLer at the league minimum. Isles acquire a depth forward, a 3rd round pick, and gain cap space.

ARI-NYI Trade
Coyotes acquire a young goal scoring prospect and a very good but overpaid bottom-6 RW, and move on from a player who struggled last season. Isles gain some cap space and a replacement for Clutterbuck who has some better scoring ability.

DET-NYI Trade
Similar to the Staal trade, Red Wings acquire an overapid defenseman but receive a 1st round pick and a recent 2nd round pick. Isles acquire some cap space and a depth forward on an expiring contract (at 50% retained).

CGY-NYI Trade
Flames acquire an elite bottom-6 center. Isles acquire a young defenseman with some potential, and a struggling forward who could use a change of scenery.

RFA
Mat Barzal - 2 years, $6.75M cap hit

1) No he's not
2) Fine, he plays on the third line.

He is. He doesn’t drive play and he’s slow. One of the worst PP players in the league.

Most of this is pretty good, although I'm not a fan of the Cizikas trade if we're not doing it for cap space, which we aren't really doing here, so I'd rather keep him. Otherwise the rest is good

That's good to hear. I was trying to go outside the box here and thought it'd be a good fit for both teams.

Technically it does gain cap space. We get two players at less of a cost than Cizikas himself. I also like the idea of Kylington. We're not very deep on LHD depth and I like the idea of him and Greene rotating for a year then Kylington playing on the bottom-pair full time in 2021-22.
