Crazy...extend a player's contract, give him a NTC and trade him only months after.

They didn't know they'd be able to draft Lafreniere who will be an elite LW for a decade.

Either they trade 1 OA or they trade Kreider or they pay Kreider 6.5M for the next 7 years to play on their 3rd line. I think the best option is to trade Kreider.

Or just move Panarin to the RW

Or they move one to RW... silly solutions here for simple problems.

So you plan on having Kakko play on the 3rd line for the next 7 years? Or are you planning to move Buchnevich?

Just trade him in a few years if you have to. Like it or not, the rebuild is over. Laff on the 3rd line, Gautier on the 4th.

The rangers can move whoever they want in the future. Most for decent returns. Again this is all very simple. Things can change drastically over the next few years.

This is an extreme overreaction. There is still a lot of uncertainty with these young wingers. In 3 years or so when/if Laff, Kakko, Kravtsov establish themselves then you can consider moving him...

Once again he has a NMC, how will you move him?

NMC’s get moved all the time. See Marc Staal literally yesterday. And if they can’t/he refuses, Kreider at 6.5 mil as your 3LW in 4 years is not the end of the world. They have a very clean cap future after this year and that is at the bottom of the list of concerns...

How do they have a clean cap? They'll need to sign Fox, Shesterkin, Lafreniere, Kakko and Kravtsov. How are you gonna do that with a guy making 6.5M on your 3rd line?

Increasing cap and with only two contracts that go past the two years (Kreider and Trouba) they have a lot of cap flexibility if you actually sit down and crunch it up. Not o mention A LOT of bad contracts coming off the books. I can put ACGM together for you if you’d like?

Don't they still have another two seasons until Kakko comes due? One for Fox, right? They have Staal's 5.7 off the books, 3m this year and like 7m next year from Hank's buyout. Smith is up after this year. I don't understand where the panic is coming from.

Add Panarin to that list, so 3 current long term contracts...

Shesterkin and Fox are gonna cost 15M just for the 2 of them and right now they're making 2M. The cap problem only gets worse from there.

No it really doesn’t. It’s not a situation like Vancouver where you have all your entry level stars needing new contracts the same year AND a bunch of terrible contracts.

Shesterkin comes off one year, then Fox and Kakko the next, then Laff. And the only debatably bad contract the Rangers have past this year is Trouba, who is still a quality defenseman.

So you see players reaching their elite potentials as a problem?

If I’m the rangers I’m hoping all of my elc’s warm 10m+ contracts.

Don't listen to these guys. You are speaking 100% truth. Kreider will be making $6.5M entering his ladder years while we have a ton of young players to pay and he'll have a very small role at a high price tag. I'd trade Kreider for the best return available and I don't care what it is. Not to mention his NMC that runs for 4 seasons.

That's not the problem... The problem is you can't afford that if your paying Kreider 6.5M to play on the 3rd line...

So the rangers have too many good players???? Seems horrible.

Personally if I had horrible problems like too many good players on my hockey team I would move some for great returns. If I’m lucky maybe those great returns net me some more “problems” in the future.
