Petro wont sign 9 million with the leafs. Those sonnet insurance commercials don’t make up for the millions in lost money in taxes. Any Canadian team signing Petro needs to start at 10.5 million per year at the least. Laughable

Bonuses + the fact he’s Canadian, living in Canada and getting paid in USD

Not close. Vegas or Florida can pay him 9 and he’ll make more money than 10.5 in Toronto.

You’d have to overpay and find pajama photos. Otherwise no deal

Vegas have the cap space?
Cant see panthers having the funds to offer the bonus structure.
With no clear end in sight to this pandemic I could see more players become open to Canadian markets tax might be more than some American markets but a couple Canadian teams can and would offer significant bonus structures that very few American teams can afford to match. Not that I care but I think leafs actually do have a very reasonable chance at signing him to a fairly team friendly cap hit because of how much actually money they can offer upfront.

I’ll eat my shirt if Petro signs below 10 million in Toronto. The leafs have a chance to sign him but it won’t be for anything less than top dollar. These Toronto fan boys thinking he’ll take a discount when his preference is to stay where he is, well, leafs fans amirite?!

The leafs have less cap space then Vegas. The Knights owner can front load the hell out of the deal with bonuses same as the leafs then there is the better lifestyle, no tax state. Etc, etc

I don’t get why Petro would even want to leave in a pandemic and if he does he certainly will have more offered from Vegas than Toronto

I can respect that point. The issue I see with Vegas is cap space if they sign Lehner. I could be wrong I just don’t see them going heavily after AP too.

Bill Foley might be the biggest madmen in the league. Afterall, he somehow got a team in Vegas of all places. He's made it known that he absolutely wants a Cup before he kicks the bucket (75 years old) and will overpay
