It is a real choice. However, if Sandin and Liljegren are a pairing this team is going to be real bad, and neither of those two will ever come close to reaching their potential if the team continues to not care at all about their development.

I would understand if a team did nothing if they have had previous success, but if you have a clear weakness like the leafs do on defense then that's not such a great idea.

Ironically, defence wasn't half bad in the playoff round, it was our depth scoring/literally any scoring. We got shutout in 2 games and 56 minutes of game 4. We sucked ass defensively in the regular season though

With the two worst parts of our defence leaving in UFA (Ceci on the top pair and Barrie being generally awful), we're pretty set. Picking up a free agent and giving dermott one last shot at playing the right side/top 4 could be good.

The kappy trade shows that Dubas wants to shake up the bottom 6, inject some bite and experience - and according to many insiders, the leafs are really really determined to get Reilly an above average defence partner.

That and a shakeup in net, we should be good without any earth-shattering trades

Well the Leafs have done some things since last October. Dug themselves out of a deep hole under the terrible coaching of Babcock to reach the playoffs. Next season won't have the their two worse Dmen in Barrie and Ceci returning. I'm for trading Johnsson and his 3.4m for nothing if it means having cap to sign a moderately priced UFA Dman.

They need a top pairing D man or two experienced top 6's preferably R handed.
