I don't know why you would when Stützle, Drysdale, Rossi, Raymond etc. all can't be gone at that point

I have no idea but apparently Dorion really likes him and he’s going to UND where Dorion picked JBD, Tychonich and Pinto from there. I don’t understand it when there’s much better Franchise Dmen next year and we need RHD way more than LHD

Yea that too. What we need is a 1C, 1RW and 1RD. RD needs to be a Jones/Weber/Ekblad/Carlo/Pesce/P. Myers type and not a Deangelo/Boqvist/Drysdale type

Obviously no skin in the race but I'd 100% want no part of choosing first defenseman this draft with a top 7 pick

Drysdale seems like the more obvious pick if they're going defense

But personally think players like Rossi/Raymond make more sense there

Yeah unless they’re Heiskanen/Makar level, they shouldn’t go top 7

I’m hoping it’s Byfield/Stutzle and Raymond

Me too but so many ppl believe Byfield would. I love Stutzle, he’s so fun to watch. But I imagine a cup winning team with Byfield more so I hope he drops to 3

LA going for the more sure thing when they're already loaded with C prospects and Ottawa getting the project with upside at a position of need seems like a win win

Also more negative talk around Byfield lately but could just be smoke

He's drawn comparisons to Ryan Suter from a play style perspective, but I don't really think it's realistic to expect him to reach that level. He's also compared himself to Miro Heiskanen, which I can see from a skating and defensive poise perspective, but I don't think he'll even be half of the offensive player Heiskanen is.

While I still really think he would be the wrong pick, I don't hate the idea as much as I used to. He's a big body and a fantastic skater who plays a great defensive game. If Ottawa wants to commit to letting Brannstrom play on his preferred Right Side, I can actually see a relatively compelling argument for taking him, though it would still make way more sense to try and trade back a few spots.

im actually open to him at 5 now. Kid is unreal defensively, takes great angles all the time, doesn't really get beat too often from what theyre saying. But there is for sure some offensive upside to help develop but hes such a great skater already I honestly think hes got quite a bit more potential than I had initially let on myself. Hes todays moden day defensive dman mould, where he can skate well and move drive the play but is really defense first. I think him and brannstorm on a line would be absolute cash. As far as comparables i would say pretty similarish to cam fowler ya but I think hes better defensively. he has superb potential

I've seen play style comparisons to Suter and McDonagh a lot. He's said to have top pairing upside but that's mostly because of how he's been used and people thinking there's untapped offense in there. I think he ends up as a #2/3 tweener.

honestly i dont watch many ducks games. Offensively though I think his point totals could get to cam fowler marks if hes playing with brannstrom. ahhh. Probably more then actually
