I knew it possibly a long shot but Dermott would be Devils best left handed defenseman and Johnsson is worth more than a third. He’s better than Kapanen who went for a first and a prospect.

I thinkn johnsson gets underrated a but, he's young and odds are you're not finding 20 goals scorers at a high rate in round 2, you'll find them , but Johnson I think is going to be there for next five to seven. However devils are still at the point of impact players and are not dropping out of top ten for two mid level players and a mid round first.

If you think Johnsson is better than kapanen who got traded for a first and a prospect why wouldn't you just trade Johnsson alone for the devils pick? Is it possibly because you don't even believe you ridiculous statement about Johnsson?

Johnsson is absolutely not better than Kapanen. It's not even close.

From a senile old man. Nobody in their right mind is paying a 1st rounder for Johnsson. The kid’s only played 1 full season and was just over half PPG. He’s not worth a 1st. A 3rd or MAYBE a 2nd is more reasonable.

Detroit declines. Holl isn’t worth a 3rd and even if he was Detroit doesn’t need RD

I do think Johnsson and Dermott maybe make sense for New Jersey. I don't think this trade as structured does though.

Maybe if you ask for Severson for that package instead of the pick you might get it. Might be overpaying for Severson but it would be pretty close I would think.
