If you’re not going to include Laf, switch Robertson for K’Andre Miller, switch Trouba for Nils and add Chytil to the deal. Also, switch the 2022 1st to 2021.

K’Andre Miller + Nils + Chytil + Kakko + Car 1st and 2021 Rangers 1st

This isn’t even close dude

Gotta start with Lafreniere

If he’s not in the deal...
other teams out there will likely outbid you

Those Obvs weren’t true. And I agree about Eichel > Laf. But Ottawa is 1-2 years from competing even with Eichel. And Eichel wants to win now

Wayyyy too much for Eichel. He’s not gonna magically bring us a cup. We need a defensively responsible 2nd line center not another superstar center. This trade makes us worse and gives up too many quality assets. I don’t want Eichel for that price and honestly don’t want him on the team at all.

But I always loved Eichel. I really love Tkachuk, he’s elite and going to be even better but I’d consider Tkachuk, 5th overall more medium prospects for Eichel. Tkachuk had some ridiculous stat lines this year

That offer would get beat though
75% of the league would go after Eichel if he became available
Especially since he’s signed at only $10mil for 6 more years

Sure but there’s no way you get a better piece than Tkachuk in a trade. And you’re getting a top 5 pick too in a deep draft. Tkachuk is a better piece than Kakko imo.

Any trade with NYR would be Lafreniere +
He’s a better “piece” than Brady imo

Yes Laf for sure. But what if Rangers don’t include him. I bet you they’re not even offering Kakko lol. Probably something like Nils + Strome + Kravtsov and 2 1st round picks not 1st overall. They’re obviously gonna lowball

And if they do,
then I’d assume it’s very unlikely a deal would be made

We have Eichel signed for 6 more years
And I’d imagine we are in no hurry to trade our “franchise” center unless it’s one hell of a deal

Yeah I think you guys should keep Eichel. But pull off a big move or 2. Trade for Cirelli, Labanc and sign a 2nd pairing Dman. Those guys are still young so they won’t start declining for 6-7 years. No untouchables in the prospect pool except for Cozens

True
I like the Staal trade, but still plenty of work to be done
I’d prefer to keep Cozens & the 8th pick
Just about anything else is in the table as far as picks & prospects go
Not too many untouchables in our roster either

Why not trade the 8th pick if it lands you Cirelli? It’s not like you’re trading it for a veteran who’s close to 30. Cirelli is only 23 and a solid 2 way 2C. It helps them push for a playoff spot

I like Cirelli, but we don’t “need” him
Cozens is our 2C of the future, & Staal is fine there for a year
Also...
i know Tampa uses him a lot defensively,
but I’ve hardly noticed Cirelli for long stretches in games this playoffs
That’s concerning for me to give up pick8
Especially in this draft
