Someone else trade for Eichel

Created by: HOCKEYBOY448

Description
Trading for him would be a mistake we’d regret. Eric Lindros 2.0 Dude costs $10 mil and hasn’t done anything. Not worth blowing up our future cap when we’re gonna have to sign most of our guys. I don’t get what is so hard to understand about this. Sabres fans are gonna wanna gut our entire system and still complain that it’s not enough, while Rangers fans want him and underpay. It’s so pointless. Stay the course on the rebuild and build the team from within.

"Dude costs $10M and hasn't done anything."

Not exactly his fault he plays in one of the worst teams and organisations in the league.

I'd say he's done pretty much the maximum amount any player could do in that same environment. Hence he's probably one of the most valuable centers in the league.

Doesn’t mean we trade everything in the cupboards and roster worth something to get him. That’s his problem for signing an 8 year extension in Buffalo and Buffalo’s fault for not figuring out that mess they have on their hands.

I mean if NYR is interested as it's rumored then they need to pay the price. That's all there is to it.

Yeah that price looks nothing like what people on here are going on about. Everyone wants Laf, Kakko, a first, Miller and the list goes on and on. Why is one player worth that much when he can’t even get his team to the playoffs. If we did that he’d have no one to play with in NY and be stuck in the same position.

One player doesn't carry the whole organisation. But Eichel is probably closest to that in this regard.

Think about it this way: It's gonna cost a hefty sum to move the one brick that prevents the whole house from breaking down. Likely the materials to build a new house.

I said this to another guy - an Eichel to NYR trade will cost at least two of Laffy, Kakko, Zibanejad and Fox. Otherwise BUF has no need to move the guy. They need to pieces to start rebuilding that house again and only these guys are worthy pieces in this regard.

I understand this, but this doesn’t change the fact that the Rangers don’t need him. We have our superstar talent and cheap quality young players. We just need guys to keep developing and step up in the lineup. We don’t have to make this move. It doesn’t make us exponentially better, especially considering we already have Panarin who is our best player.

I agree. I don't really know why NYR is rumored to be after Eichel, but perhaps they're looking for that young franchise center.

Also NHL as a league would be making huge bucks out of all Eichel merchandise if this move was to happen. Bettman would be drooling like a f*cking goblin in a dinner table.

I definitely agree there.
