Jokiharju has been good, but not crazy good. He’s what Buffalo would need to give up if they want to upgrade to Matthews. Until Eichel makes the playoffs, there will be no Matthews Eichel debate.

Disagree, as you have to look at the contract difference as well. Like I said, there’s no real who’s better in my eyes yet, both are really good and we’ll see who’s better in the long haul. Matthews gets a slight edge because he’s consistently been this good since day one where Eichel more or less ramped up to the elite status. But Eichel has 6 years left at 10 vs Matthews 4 at 11.6 Does make a difference in who you’d want on your team (this isn’t a who’s better part of the debate, this is Joki as the difference between, which I just simply don’t agree with because of the above). Not to mention that more then likely whichever team “initiated” the talks would prolly be the one adding in a scenario like trading them for each other.

Still don’t believe the contracts change much.

I mean, if not for the actual money, the term has to matter. And for guys that the chasm isn’t nearly as big as leaf fans make it. It just appears that way as like I said it took Eichel longer to get to where he is today then Matthews did

Buffalo easily declines this trade. Mathews is injury prone has played with an elite offensive team and has had Johnny T taking all the tough matchups. He hasn’t he even been able to make it past the first round with elite team. Meanwhile Jack has played with no one and put up elite numbers. He is better defensively and most important thing is his contract is ALOT BETTER!!!!

That is one of the coldest takes ive ever seen. Matthews is the star on his team and was before Tavares. And he is NOT injury prone, he had one or two seasons where he missed a few games but that’s not injury prone.
