Chicago is like the 3rd richest team in the league, I doubt they have any issue paying Seabrook

Just an LTIR pickup to give us more cap space, Leafs and Dubas have utilised the LTIR to their advantage over the past couple of years would be suprised if they did it again.

Not entirely sure a team would give you a 2nd for Johnsson, even without including a starting goalie in the deal

With Toronto's RHD problems, Seabrook actually would be a asset there

Bingo, has nothing to do with the money, has everything to do with the cap space. That said, Hawks can easily put Seabs on LTIR if he qualifies which he doesn't at this point. However, given the Leafs issues on RHD, Seabrook would be an asset to them smile

We just got a first and a top forward prospect for kapanen who has been considered to have the same value on the trade market as johnsson.

Edmonton needs top 4D more than they need a starting goalie, so They don’t really have a reason to make that deal

Honestly I feel very guilty giving this little for Seabrook. Can we add a couple 1sts lol. He’s not going on LTIR anytime soon

Right-handed players always worth more, also a different situation in terms of outside GMs widely being reported as viewing Kapanen as buried behind Nylander/Marner

Could I see a team giving a 2nd if they desperately needed LW? I didn't say absolutely not, just not so sure. Pittsburgh certainly isn't that team as they're 6 deep on the left

Also, Hallander was one of Pittsburgh's top prospects, he's not a 'top forward prospect' in any other organization lol. He has a third line ceiling

Yes you do need a top 4 D but i'm not sure Mikko Koskinen is the starting goalie you need either, I think freddy would be a bigger adition than Larsson is a subtraction, plus there is a deep class of defensemen in free agency.

Lol maybe, was pretty sure that it sounded like he was going to be off the ice for a while, 3 surgeries in the span of a couple weeks?

By who? Kapanen is a much better asset and is still an RFA at the end of his deal

It is also pretty well known around the league that Pittsburgh is desperate to move one of their goalies and Jim Rutherford has already stated that its going to be Murray, so he may get desperate to move him and could even see Johnsson as an asset to flip to another team to improve the D core.

Johnsson has already had a 20 goal season and has some of the same abilities that kapenen has such as their speed and shooting abilities, not saying their worth exactly the same but in the same are. Also would be getting less for Johnsson that kapenen.

Desperate is a pretty strong word, JR's been pretty clear about waiting out the market. Once Lehner and Markstrom sign he's the undisputed best goalie available and by far the youngest

So why would he add a 2nd for two pieces he doesn't need ? If he's so desperate he could sell Murray for straight picks and keep his second

If Johnsson could be moved for a legitimate improvement on the defense you have to think Toronto would have done that by now
Pittsburgh also 9 deep at the moment with NHL caliber defenseman, they'll be subtracting not adding

If there are lots of free agent D then you should just get one of those. If you’re trying to dump Freddy then there are going to be better suitors for that than Edmonton. I just don’t see the fit for that trade, especially considering that I have heard nothing about Larsson needing out of Edmonton nor a desire by management to trade him. Bouchard is not ready for top 4 minutes so he still fills an important need for the team.

The Oilers have too much AAV locked up in Koskinen for the next two seasons, and are committed to a 1a/1b strategy instead of the classic starter/backup approach. Andersen is not a fit in Edmonton.

Totally disagree and we’re not trading for a rental starter
With 9.5 mil tied up in goaltending we couldn’t replace Larsson
Just a heads up there is no conditions on trades in the new CBA
