Now, this is assuming there is a 2020-21 season, which there probably will be in some form ... even though it will likely be different than normal, I am going to assume 82 games, four rounds of playoffs with fans as usual, and travel. I'm also going to assume the same 4-division and wild-card format that has been used since 2013 ... there are so many other possibilities of what could happen, but assuming those things is the best way to go for making predictions because I don't want to make up any other rules for this lol ...

Atlantic:
1 - Tampa Bay Lightning - 117 points
2 - Boston Bruins - 107 points
3 - Toronto Maple Leafs - 94 points
4 - Florida Panthers - 89 points
5 - Buffalo Sabres - 87 points
6 - Montreal Canadiens - 83 points
7 - Ottawa Senators - 71 points
8 - Detroit Red Wings - 70 points

Metropolitan:
1 - Philadelphia Flyers - 105 points
2 - New York Islanders - 104 points
3 - Carolina Hurricanes - 101 points
4 - Washington Capitals - 100 points
5 - New York Rangers - 96 points
6 - Pittsburgh Penguins - 94 points
7 - Columbus Blue Jackets - 91 points
8 - New Jersey Devils - 81 points

Central:
1 - Colorado Avalanche - 112 points
2 - Dallas Stars - 102 points
3 - St. Louis Blues - 100 points
4 - Winnipeg Jets - 96 points
5 - Nashville Predators - 93 points
6 - Minnesota Wild - 86 points
7 - Chicago Blackhawks - 81 points

Pacific:
1 - Vegas Golden Knights - 108 points
2 - Vancouver Canucks - 101 points
3 - Calgary Flames - 99 points
4 - Edmonton Oilers - 98 points
5 - Arizona Coyotes - 97 points
6 - San Jose Sharks - 71 points
7 - Anaheim Ducks - 71 points
8 - Los Angeles Kings - 60 points

Playoff predictions coming ...

Tampa's gonna go through a bit of a roster overhaul. I dont think if they reach 117 points and a presidents trophy. But it depends on how long the off season is.

gonna wait until preseason to make any concrete predictions; but i'll make some uneducated guesses.

-We're not getting an 82 game season. The cross-conference games are going to be sacrificed first.
-Tampa and Boston are gonna tumble. Them and Toronto are going to be in a three-way race to whatever next years equivalent of 100 points is.
-You might as well use a random number generator for predicting Metro.
-Devils are going to have an abnormal 10 game win streak next season.
-Winnipeg is going to look terrible next year. Minnesota is going to be a wild card team while half their centres are on IR because hockey makes no sense.
-San Jose and Calgary will look good enough to just miss the playoffs.
-Toronto will have a decent season but also have an incredibly embarrassing game that everyone will talk about. They'll also look decent defensively for once, just in time for the goalposts to be moved.
-Colorado is going to win the presidents trophy. MacKinnon is going to break 100 points and not win the Hart.

People are really sleeping on the Canadiens. They did make the playoffs this year and challenged Philly with a depleted roster (players moved out at the deadline). KK should bounce back, and it’s very unlikely that we’re as unlucky with injuries next year. I’m not expecting us to make the playoffs, but I think it’ll be close, and I can’t see us finishing behind Florida, and especially not the Sabres.

*This is assuming we play in the same divisions of course, which I would say has a less than 50% chance of happening.*
