Swapping 1st rounds draft picks to move Neal’s contract deems fair. The Senator’s third pick moves up. I don’t think Ottawa’s needs to offer Edmonton a 2nd to get it done. Interestingly, I wouldn’t do it if I was Holland. The Oiler’s should try and move up the draft order not down.

The reality of Neal’s contract is that a team often needs to take another bad contract back. There is too much term remaining on his contract to offer draft picks to a team making the cap floor.
