More Jim Rutherford

Created by: MajesticWalrus
Team: 2020-21 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 29, 2020
Published: Sep. 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Goes from making the smartest moves and winning two cups to the opposite and just losing every trade severely. Usually does really well with prospects though especially with what little picks he has. Let's recap though

Trade bjugstad for literally nothing and retained too

Trade hornqvist who's still good for a defender who is worse than johnson and is on the ice for like every goal against but also has bad discipline and takes bad penalties and injures other players.

And we overpaid for kapanen with the 15th overall pick.

So this thread is in honor of Rutherford's horrible trades and to continue the ongoing penguin apocalypse.

Trades
1.
PIT
  1. Crouse, Lawson
  2. Schmaltz, Nick
Additional Details:
In honor of getting younger and worse for lack of a better word. Plus Malkin has always been rumoured a lot in recent years. We also get that third line winger and malkins much worse replacement.
2.
PIT
  1. Jones, Martin
Additional Details:
The "if we do decide to get a veteran to back jarry" route. It'd be a worse one for lack of a better word.
SJS
  1. Johnson, Jack
  2. Murray, Matt [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Apparently we're not trading Pettersson or Dumoulin on the left side. But johnson will apparently need to fight for his spot. He also likely gets packaged with Murray whenever they do decide to trade him even if they change their mind and trade johnson sooner.
3.
PIT
  1. Gáborík, Marián
  2. Zaitsev, Nikita
  3. 2020 1st round pick (NYI)
OTT
  1. Letang, Kris
Additional Details:
Lots of Letang rumours were circulating too. With one source even saying that Letang thought he was going to get traded but didn't want to leave. So anyway time to lose this trade too. Younger and worse (for lack of a better word) is our new motto.

Is it bad that I could actually see that Murray trade happening?

Penguins management just likes him. I don't think they would buy him out. I think they feel that they will keep him if they have to if the return isn't good enough (in their opinion) cause they don't think he's that bad.

Exactly. So Rutherford would probably do it.

Nah just the three most recent deals or otherwise that one too but the Reaves deal was even worse than that one. 1st for Reaves. Pretty sure I saw somewhere that even Reaves was shocked.
