Created by: csick
Team: 2020-21 Ottawa Senators
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 29, 2020
Published: Sep. 29, 2020

Description
Thats what i understood from the interview. Theyre very high on someone at 5 and if they dont get him , theyre willing to trade back, then goes on to praise Raymond and talk about him even when asked about Quinn.

He also shaded L. Brown, didnt mention him when he praised Norris, White and Pinto

Ultimately it's a moot point because I don't think Detroit takes Raymond, but it would be an interesting scenario. Even if they go from 5 to 8, they're probably getting a nice price for it.

Wings are going rsymond or rossi, so it's possible that we take him. For the extra 2nd we would prob be ok with taking rossi over raymond

I don't think Ottawa would bother trading up. Also I've mostly seen Perfetti's name at 4.

Perfetti are from people who have no idea what they are talking about. The kids a bust, we aren't taking a middlestadt at 4. Its rossi or raymond.

I suspect that Stevie is leaning Perfetti over Raymond or Drysdale at the moment, though Raymond has looked sharp through SHL Preseason and opening weekend. Drysdale is a wild card here, Stevie could lock up the right side of his D corp for years to come, have 2 all-around righties (Hronek and Seider), and have the PP/offensive dman in Drysdale. I think Drysdale would be a lock if he was left-handed.

Perfetti has too many similar traits to Brayden Point for that to be ignored, expect Perfetti scored at a higher rate than Point at the same age (not including the league offensive skews). Both are about 5'10 (though I've seen Perfetti measured in at 5'11 in some places), Perfetti is a little heavier now than Point was at the same age. Same "issues" with skating, similar vision, though Perfetti is known to have an elite brain and compete level, while Point had a better shot. There was also questions about Point's attitude, which Perfetti doesn't have.

Raymond is interesting because you see a combination of Landeskog, Marner, and Panarin in him, with that shot inside the dots, flip passes where he barely moves his hands, and fast feet. If you think Raymond's floor is Landeskog, then you have to take him at 4, because his ceiling is extremely high.

his ceiling is probably Marner and might even be better because he has a real nice wrist shot and is a better goal scorer than Marner, although Marner beats him in skating and speed

Which interviews have you been watching? Wouldn’t mind giving them a listen. I really hope we get Raymond, if we come out of this with Byfield+Raymond I literally don’t care what we do with the rest of the picks lol. If Raymond is gone and we trade down and take Askarov and pick up another 1st that would be great too. If we do 5+28 for 7+18 I’d like those to be Holtz/Askarov+Lapierre. Sad to hear they’re shading Brown, I really like him. I hope they don’t rush to trade him this summer, I think that would be a mistake.

Thanks! Also I had a thought on Brown—the only way I might trade him is if we swapped him for Pulju. This would probably necessitate signing or trading for a veteran Finn but we have the cap space and it could work for both teams if we’re confident in Stutzle or Byfieid plus Norris/Pinto/White/Tierney up the middle

Yeah I was thinking about something like that. Or if we include him in a package for top 6F or top 4D

Yeah it would have to be a good, relatively young established player to warrant giving him up in a package for sure. I’m actually not opposed to trading him for Pulju and then signing Koivu, Granlund, or Haula ngl, that could work well. Idk which top 6 F or top 4 D we would target though (Cernak maybe? But we probably wouldn’t add much, if anything)

Wings would do that deal. They'll take either Raymond or Rossi and will get whomever Ottawa doesn't take and get an extra pick out of it except i'd be after the ottawa 2nd and not the stars second which is more like a 3rd

Not the Dallas 2nd. It's the Ottawa 2nd or not worth our time helping another team out and we just take whomever we want.

They're very high on someone at 5 and if they don't get him , they're willing to trade back

5'11 // 180lb Swedish RWer... does that remind you of somebody? I'm high on Raymond as well at #5

The reason why they're willing to trade back if Raymond (or the player that they're high on) is because they apparently have targeted Sanderson/Quinn and #5 would be a waste on these players

Yes it doesn’t seem like Drysdale is possible. To me, it’s Raymond or they move back for Quinn/Sanderson. That’s what I understood from the interviews
