Stanley Cup aftermath

Created by: JohnG123
Team: 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 29, 2020
Published: Sep. 29, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Julien BriseBois inherited a talented team with a big cap crunch ahead of them. Thankfully, he wins the Cup in 2020 and with COVID-19 halting a cap increase, good players are traded and lost to free agency but the main core stays intact with young prospects making the jump after promising AHL seasons.

MTL isn't giving you a 2nd to trade Danault for Killorn.
My Counter offer is STL 2nd and MTL 5th for Killorn + TB 6th

With the new CBA you can't use resigning as a condition in a trade.

Montreal trades directly with Nashville, they'd rather the first than Killorn.

Since you can't do that anymore I don't see Detroit giving up any picks let alone 2 picks for Paquette.

I can't see Johnson costing so little to trade away. Marleau cost a first-round-pick; he was overpaid by about 5 million for a year. Johnson is overpaid ~3 million for 4 years...and everyone knows that Tampa Bay's picks are unlikely to be high.

NSH declines either Danault trade. 11OA is too much for him, even if they wanted him. The UFAs they're losing (Granlund & Smith) were both wingers in NSH. They're already overloaded at center.

Makes sense and i agree...

I just don't see how an AGM like this makes it that Tampa screws Montreal by buying low, and then screws Nashville by selling high the same player.

Nashville passes. Danault doesn't overtake Johansen or Duchene and only further complicates what to do with Bonino/Turris. We need scoring wingers not more centers.

Maybe but saying Tyler Johnson is worth 2M AAV is not true. I’m not talking about the trade, if TJ was making 2M for 4 years, he would get a 2nd + IMO

Tyler Johnson still isn't worth that. He may waive to come here, but he still has to be protected in the expansion draft, and he still doesn't have a good contract for what he'll be for the next four years here.

This is proof of how far away from being a legit Cup contender the Wild are! Johnson will barely be missed by the Lightning, but would probably center one of the top 2 lines for the Wild.
