The only pieces of interest to the jets are Patrick, the first, and the 2nd, so the jets decline.

I think wings decline too, I don't get how jvr helps us, long term contract with high cap hit, gonna cost more and better pieces

the fact that Winnipeg fans don't do their HW on Zamula a defensive prospect that outplayed Romanov from MTL is amazing. Dont have an opinion if you don't know anything

Well, the term is only 3 years, and it adds to your draft pick arsenal for the next 3 years as well. Your also able to shed a bit of salary back by trading Glendening. I'd even be happy to retain some for JVR, but his stats show he is still productive, maybe 7 mil worth, but i wouldn't call him a complete waste. He would absolutely help the PP too, the last 3/4 years have been a travesty for you guys. Friedman is an intrguing RHD who more than held his own last year in the cup of coffee he had with us.

Really, you think that's all he is gonna get?

That’s not the problem. I like zamula. But we have more ld prospects than we can handle. Our future has at least 2 top 4 ld in samberg, heinola, Chisholm, niku, and Stanley and that’s in addition to JoMo who is a top pair guy.

The problem isn’t that I undervalue zamula, but he doesn’t interest us

In a flat cap era and he didnt put up 5m+ numbers.. youre essentially saying barrie is equal to deangelo.. Players are going to be underpaid this year and next as the flat cap is a minimum of 2 years

if you are going to throw 6m at Barrie you may as well offer sheet Sergachev that coin first as he is actually worth it

Only problem with that is we wouldn't have the picks with the Laine trade. I'd be much happier if we could get Barrie for 3m but you know a team out there looking for a RHD who believes that the first half of the year Barrie was stifled by Babcock and it was just an aberration, will give him close to 5m.

Fair, wasn't going to even look into the pick selection.. Was more just making the point that you're comparing Barrie to Sergachev/Deangelo and a bunch of others that are much better and more established. Barrie will be 2-4M depending on term/team in this market.. In fact, Leafs signed Muzzin to less than what you price Barrie at. That's a good guide line for D prices today

Comparing to Muzzin is actually fair, and perhaps coming off a down year he gets less than I thought. At 29, and a RH shot, I still like him to have a few more successful years, especially if he can be paired with a more defensive dman like Hagg and be the "3rd pair". I'm going to edit his cap hit to 3.5mm and less years as well. Figured he would rather a lower term to see if he can eek out one more big contract once the flat cap is over. This also actually leaves Philly with a decent amount of cap space to make some in-season maneuvering if necessary, and also more room for the next two years with a lot of our RFA's needing to be paid.
