For the Devils deal I think it's not bad assuming Loui waives. But trust me you don't want Popugayev. He has been a head case and a distraction everywhere he's been. He's currently in the KHL and unlikely to return. He seems uncoachable.

Young defenders are probably one of the few things buffalo has plenty of. There is almost nothing you could offer for someone to eat that ridiculous contract. Just buy him out.

Fair enough. But his is one of the most useless contracts out there. He’s not even an NHL player anymore, and he’s being paid over $3 million. There is no incentive to take it.
