At least have the Rangers will have to send equal cap back to Sabres to make it any trade practical.

About 40% too much. An Eichel trade return will be much less than people Think, but still to much for teams to pursue.

I love Eichel, but eww.

And i agree, people are nuts if they truly believe Eichel is going to fetch 3-4 eye popping pieces.
GMs are not going to gut their entire team for one player. That's counter productive.
And i know, they are not the same tier, but O Reilly is an example, so are guys like Mcdonagh and EK65 (before SJ imploded)
Guys like Thomas, Parayko, Sergachev, Meier they weren't part of any deals like people would have assumed.

Didn’t those players you mentioned all have one year left? Eichel has 6 years left.

Superstars don’t get traded when entering their prime with 6 years left on their deal. If the team doesn’t feel like they gave up too much to acquire him, they’re probably not getting him.

Guys like thomas absolutely should have been. He won a cup and a conn smythe, are you seriously suggesting a top prospect- a mid first mind you, should have been off limits? It was a terrible move by a gm and an owner looking to save 7 mill on a bonus that decided to take whatever army offered, this by no means should be a template for future god awful deals.

Eichel is also on a different level than all of them.

i never said one or 2 nice pieces wouldn't go. I'm talking a deal like this wouldn't happen at all.
And in no way do i think Eichel will/should be traded, especially not now.
Not only does he have so much term left, he hasn't actually stated he wanted out of Buffalo
