I would rather have nylander and Holl over Manson and Rackell.

Yeah, Columbus doesn't exist for the purpose of helping you shed $6M in cap. Decline.

Yup, you got it. Leafs yes trading up in the draft would be nice but do the ducks even consider that and why?

Nylander+Holl >>>>> Rackell+Manson. Manson had a terrible season last year and he missed a good chunk of the season due to injury. Honestly I'm surprised he isn't considered a cap dump yet. Rackell just isn't on Nylander's level. It just seems like a massive overpayment by Toronto.

Most likely not. Probably just miss him. I would rather have Schneider Dermott and Lilly to be honest.

You're new to CapFriendly. Many posts have any RHD traded to the Leafs. Doesn't matter if they are good or bad, overpaid or not, apparently the Leafs and only the Leafs need to overpay in trades for other teams RHD.

Ya I just don't understand . I'm sure if Manson went anywhere else it would only be like a 3rd round pick or something going the other way.

this is a massive homer take. no offense but man you're really off on this one, only thing you got mildy right was "Rackell just isn't on Nylander's level" to which I say Rakell produces similar number in that top 6.But, yes Nylander has a higher ceiling.

Last thing Manson and being a cap dump? really?

I’m not going to call him a cap dump... but he scored more goals in his own net than his openers and his numbers aren’t as good as holl’s. For the leafs it just makes more sense to keep those players and the 3 extra years of term.

I just don’t see Manson having a ton of positive value.

In my opinion yes. He had the worst year of his career last season. There are much better and more affordable players like Matt Roy available. Heck TJ Brodie is much better then Manson and we could just sign him in free agency. It just doesn't make sense for Toronto at all

Im not arguing the leafs should target him I understand the pov leaf fans typically have. But Manson is a far cry from a buy out with a cap hit of 4 with 2 years left.

I mean I guess if you feel that way but being very familiar with Manson I see him being an actual contributor and presence to that locker room. Im gonna spare you the talk about grit or whatever but Manson would definitely fill a spot needed as the leafs have scoring pretty much covered.

The Leafs would better off signing a moderate UFA like DeMelo and signing him for less than Manson. Then trade Johnson for virtually nothing. Then in effect it's a Johnsson for DeMelo deal, and the Leafs are even in cap.
Here's the other thing about this post....the trading of Holl for nothing when you cap space to fill another Dman. IMO Holl was the Leafs third Dman last season. Why isn't he kept?
In this post the Leafs trade Dermot, Holl, and Liljegren and their 4.5m cap and about 12 years of "control" for Pietrangelo and Manson and their 12.1m cap and 9 years of control. Seem to be a waste of necessary cap just to get a big name UFA Pietrangelo, and a declining Manson
