Team: 2020-21 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 30, 2020
Published: Sep. 30, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Marner must play with Tavares. Marner drives a line the way Tavares used to. Inorder to get value out of Tavares, Marner needs to be on his wing. Matthews is like Sundin and can drive the line and Nylander on his wing is a top notch winger to play with. Matthews looks like he had a snarl on and maybe plays with more of an edge and drags Willie into some battles.

Ummmmmmm.... No.

None of this would make much sense for the teams involved who are not the Leafs.

Stats dont tell the whole story, Holl is sheltered and doesnt play against top lines night in and night out, while Manson does that and plays with a much worse supporting cast

Um you obviously didn't watch the leafs because Holl was on the shut down pair with Muzzin last year.

Um playing on a shut down pair does not mean your playing sheltered minutes. It means you play against other teams top 6.

In any case though there are waaaayyyy better options then Manson out there. For example Matt Roy played on a terrible LA team but still managed to play a very good defensive role. Plus he is going to be making league minimum compared to Manson's 4.1 million.

Canes decline easily. Can't see them including Pesce to any trade now. Just make it Reimer+2nd for Andersen.

ANA does need Manson more than Kerfoot. This deal makes no sense for them.

Buying out Fleury would be cheaper for VGK. They have no reason to retain half of his salary to dump the guy.

DET won't be giving up assets for goalies since there's so many options in free agency.

Great discussion... Thans for adding to the conversation... I did not mention in the notes. The "trade" only reflects MAF being bought out by Vegas and the leafs signing him at that number for 2 years.

Why would the leafs trade Freddie without getting value back? a 2nd and Reimer? Freddie is worth a good Dman... I would rater keep Freddie for the year, but I think his contract cash out ($1M) vs cap hit ($5M) is favorable for the circumstance.

Why would you say ANA don't need Kerfoot? They didn't make the bubble

Holl is a 4-5 Dman on a winning team...

Matt Roy is not avaiable... Why would LAK give up a guy like that if they are rebuilding. Sure I'd take him, but you'd be giving up way more to acquire an up and coming talent

Tavares had a broken finger that took forever to heal and Nylander was scoring goals for his line. Thats literally all that happened with him this year

Lots of goalies out there. I see you post about all of my bad options in net. Who do you propose? I think Freddie's contract proposes too much of an opprtunity to use him to acquire assets like a DMAN and get a good/aging goalie cheaper than $5M

MAF at 3.5M for 2 years??? why not

Because vegas isn’t retaining half his salary, and just trade him to you for nothing

Tavares is not a great skater. Can we agree that Nylander cannot drive a line like 34/16 and 91 used to? (see Moulson/Okposo/Bailey contracts)... I think Marner gets more and better years out of Tavares, and 34 brings the best out of Nylander.

Dude that doesn't effect much lmao. Manson sucks. Simple as that. If the leafs wanted him they would have got him by now.
