Created by: ArakinSkywalker
Team: 2020-21 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 30, 2020
Published: Sep. 30, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is mostly just adding granlund because of his versatility at wing and center. If kadri or mack get injured he can slide into the 2nd center role and give us a bit more depth at the position.

What's Jost's career projection? Not too familiar with him. Could he grow into a legit 2C? Then I would think about this deal.... if he's a bottom six.... no.

He still could become a top 6 forward for sure, doesn't get much chance in colorado right now with the depth at every position but he is still young. He shows flashes of what he can do, maybe just not enough opportunity for him right now

Ya saw on DailyFaceoff he was playing wing on the 3rd line... but when you have Mac and Kadri as 1/2 C, maybe he needs the opportunity.

I wouldn’t give Granlund 3 yrs but that’s me nitpicking.

After his last couple seasons we might be able to get him cheaper, but i think it's worth the 3 years. No one thrives in nashville unless you're on the blue line, i think he would be well worth 4 mil in our system

I don’t have a problem with the dollars, I would push hard on a 2 yr deal just to remain cap flexible. He wouldn’t be a core piece so I wouldn’t give him 3 yrs. but that’s me

That’s a good deal. Are you guys trying to keep Zadorov? I think he gets more than 3.5/yr

With 3 full seasons in the NHL he hasn't done anything that would put him in the top 6. He could move in the top 6 still but it's very unlikely. He's a solid 3rd line player and with Helm, Abdelkader, Neilson and Glendening there is really no space for him unless Colorado wants to take Abdelkader or Neilson back with them. Colorado can have Bowey it they want but I don't see Yzerman trading anything better than 5th at this point.

He's getting a raise on his current deal with 3.5 plus with no cap increase i don't see it being much more than that. His full seasons are really inconsistent the only reason he really gets a raise is because he had a solid playoffs.
As for keeping him i have no idea what the plan is. I think if needed he would be easy enough to move but that would mostly be to bring in the big free agent signing i think, probily hall or petro

This is a somewhat realistic scenario in terms of trading Jost. There is definitely room for argument about what he is worth and what he could still become since he's still young. I do have to say that I don't really want to keep Z, especially at that price and term. I'm okay with the 3 years for Granlund but no more. The cap outlook is fine considering that a player with a decent cap hit is going to be made available and taken by Seattle.
