How about it? I just dont see the nucks having the futures needed to get OEL, but getting him while dumping Eriksson provides cap for arizona while paying less real dollars.

I think vancouver has to add, I don't think boeser alone would be enough for OEL, not to mention you're throwing in a major cap dump as well.

The whole idea of OEL getting traded in the first place to to cut salary cap, Boeser and Eriksson add $3 million to the payroll.

We get worse in this scenerio. Sutter in the top 6? I shudder at the thought.

Over paying dell, Tanev and toffoli too.

Keep boeser and add a different defensemen instead

Or don't trade for OEL

No they want less real dollars. The cap is not the issue

Actual dollars is about the same over the next 2 seasons. $18.5 million for OEL and $18.63 million for boeser and Eriksson combined. Arizona also gets the better:younger player.

Horrible trade for the Canucks and should be an easy yes for Arizona

Cap is the issue, they're at it and they need to cut back so they have room to improve

Cap dollars are not the same though. Arizona is already around the cap and doesn't really have room to take on Eriksson's dead cap.

Also the trade is horrible for Arizona as they're both giving up the better player and taking on a bad contract

You misunderstand. They have no money as an org. Covid has killed an already poor owner, and losing three picks has been terrible. They need to operate on a smaller budget and be closer to the cap floor.

Even with trying to go closer to the cap floor, it makes no sense for them to trade the better player and take on a bad contract. As someone stated above the actual money is the same so how exactly does it put them on a "smaller" budget?

Erikssons contract is over very soon. Im not saying they should do it, I was just looking to see how vancouver can make it work.

That's very debatable. Boeser can't stay healthy for a whole season, and OEL is an established 1st pairing defenseman who rarely misses a game.
