The defense and LW in particular seem really off, I mostly agree with the rest though

its a tier ranking not necessarily in order - Petterson is in tier 3 which is top 7-17 centres

Ill add Ellis but imo McAvoy and Spurgeon would just miss tier 3 of defense

EDIT: actually McAvoy could be slotted into tier 3 too

Yeesh. I can’t see putting mcavoy much, if at all below makar and Hughes. Very different styles, but there’s a reason mcavoy was 10th in the Norris race even though he’s not a points machine.

My point is that you don't provide any support for your opinion. Your answer is that it's your opinion. Maybe provide some rationale.

Gaudreau, Giroux, Landeskog all higher with Hall and Svechnikov lower are the big ones that stick out. Defense I disagree with a ton. Where are Burns, Karlsson, Provorov, Brodin, Spurgeon, Werenski, Ekblad, Krug, to name a few omitted that 100% belong on there.

well you didnt either... honestly im not interested in getting into a debate about who is better - I just made a subjective list for fun. I dont have enough time to gather stats and stuff to justify why I think certain players are ranked higher or lower than others. You can think Pettersson is better and I can think Eichel is better

Imo Svech is better than everyone in LW tier 3, but Hall coming off of a down year I see him as Tier 2/3 border. Just depends how much you value previous seasons vs this season only. Landy, Gaudreau, Giroux are all tier 3, which is between 8-15 best LWs (which imo is very fair for those guys). The order in which they appear in the list doesnt matter.

For Defense I think most of the guys you listed just miss tier 3, but would be on the list if I extended to tier 4

I think hes in the same Tier as Kopitar, PLD, Seguin, etc. Definitely would be tier 4 if I made this longer. I cant see him being put over any of the Cs I have listed here though tbh

I dont agree with a lot of NHL awards voting tbh - for example Esa Lindell was 11th in Norris voting (btw im not comparing McAvoy to Lindell, just giving an example). I added McAvoy to tier 3, but tbh I dont think he is on the same level as Makar and Hughes. People value different playstyles differently, on a list of purely defensive defensemen McAvoy would be a lot higher

I like tier lists over-ordered rankings since everyone fights over guys who positions can be switched based on personal preferences or biases.

Personally, I'd have Hall in the third tier for LW and Tavares in the third tier for C.

I mentioned in another comment Hall is kinda on the tier 2/3 border for me, just depends how much weight you put into past seasons vs this season

I definitely forgot about Tavares - Ill add him to tier 3

Okay, so. Hmmmm
I don’t think you’ve ever seen mcavoy play if you’re going to call him a purely defensive defensemen. I’m not saying that to call you out or something, but i just think you’re drastically not getting his value. He’s the bruins best player. Bruins are pretty good.

Price should definitely be at minimum a tier 2 goalie def before bishop / markstrom etc...
