why point is better than matthews

Team: 2020-21 Custom Team
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 1, 2020
Published: Oct. 1, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
your probably all thinking that Matthews is the 2nd or 3rd best center behind Mcdavid or Mackinnon, but point is actually better than Matthews. He produces more in the playoffs, he put's up more offensive stats, and he doesnt play on a better line. matthews has help (in a good way) but point doesnt have as much. last year for example Matthews had 61 points in 78 games played. Point had 92 points in 82 games played. Now your probably thinking that was one year. WRONG, this year Point had 64 points 66 games played. Matthews had 80 points in 70 games played. Points this year was headed for 112 points, and Matthews was headed for 114 points. But when you look at playoff's Point was carrying his team to the cup and had 33 points in only 23 games played, While Matthews only had 6 points in 5 games played. Yes if Matthews would've gotten farther in the playoff's then he would've gotten more points but he wasn't able to lead him team their. Point on the other hand lead him team to the cup for the fisrt time in his career.

By the way I don't think Matthews is trash he's amazing actually I just think that Point is better than him.

Point has the best winger in the game on his line. He has way more help while Matthews only has Nylander

Conveniently left out Stamkos of your line up (injury blah blah blah). If your argument is that Point doesn't have help, you're way off base.

I mean saying that Point didn't get as much as help as Matthews is a bit cocky considering that in 2018-19 Point's linemate, Kucherov, scored 128 points - highest amount of points scored in 2000s...

Fair but I'd say point was a big reason that happened.

Yeah, you were spewing stats to support that Point doesn't have help, which is wrong.

Point doesn't have to lead this team, he can just do his job. Stamkos and Hedman lead this team, and have been in the playoffs enough to know what it takes to win. Helps too that he plays with Kucherov who is a 100 point player, whereas Matthews has to run his line.

In the end, both are good players and I'm happy with Matthews in Toronto.

After those playoffs it's not necessarily bad opinion, but I do disagree with it. And I'm a Bolts fan myself.

Well if your going off points (which it sounds like you are) Offence isn’t everything. Offensively I’d prob give a slight edge to matthews. Defensively I’d prob give a slight edge to point. Overall I’d say they are pretty close and I wouldn’t argue with you if you had good arguments about who is better.

At the same price point...i take Matthews 10 times out of 10. At their given cap hits, I'd take Point 8 times out of 10

Point has guys like Hedman, Sergachev, Cernak and McDonagh backing him up and also had Kucherov to hand him the puck when in the best spot possible to score or when Kuch opened up his lane, you could say that if Matthews was on the bolts team, you could very well say that Matthews would have been just as good, not defending Matthews, you just have to look at who the guy has on his team, the leafs can honestly count strictly on the big four on their team, Tavares, Matthews, Marner and Nylander, and they've only got one veteran puck moving defenceman, Morgan Reilly, even big Bo was playing like a puck mover in the playoffs, he played better in the playoffs than he ever did in peg or Buffalo, Point is a great player, I get you there, but Tampa has all these other players that clearly to cap cuts to build the team around them, and they also have Vasilevskiy, one player doesn't win the cup bro, a whole team does, even when Gretzky won those cups with the oilers, he did not do it alone, when the Iles won those cups, Bossy didn't do it alone, when the habs won all those cups, Lafleur didn't do it alone, not saying if the leafs ever win the cup that Matthews will do it alone, but they need better defenceman for them to win it, all the guys you compared to Point winning this year, don't have the big four defenceman he has to win the cup, yes they do have phenomenal playmakers on the team but you also need good defenceman and more than one to do so
