Team: 2020-21 Los Angeles Kings
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 1, 2020
Published: Oct. 1, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Out of the teams who are rumored to be seriously interested, I think LAK has the most to offer. Return is reduced a TAD to take back Perrault. WPG gets a 2C, a cheap Top 4 RD, a large amount of cap space to chase FAs, a high high 2nd a potentially high 1st, and a decent winger prospect. LAK get a high impact winger who is young enough to fit into there core. Let me know if the value needs to be adjusted at all...

I don’t know if LA goes after Laine since they’re getting Stutzle but the value is still missing here

They keep their pick their year so they still get Stutzle

Yes but I mean if they get Stutzle, I don’t know if they’d be interested in Laine

well then if thats the case I can think of many teams being able to outbid this offer.

Edit: to clarify not saying its probable but if im WPG and im negotiating with LA second overall or Turcotte has to be in the trade.

Idk I think it’s still a great fit. If Stutzle ends up as a winger, Laine can play RW

Isn't Adrian Kempe a pure winger? I like him but I don't think he is a center

I don’t think he should be the centrepiece of a Laine trade tho

With Laine gone, the Jets are gonna want a 2C that can actually drive a line properly. Kempe could theoretically produce as a half decent 2C playing with Ehlers and Laine, but with Laine gone they're gonna need someone back better than that or it just makes the team a whole lot worse

yeah we would be able to get something more exciting back as the centrepiece most likely

Seems like he plays both but is FO numbers are putrid so maybe he’s not best there...

If Lucas Raymond is gone at 5, I’ll trade you 5 and Logan Brown for him.

Yeah I got to think Chevy would like that, he loves drafting so I bet he values that pick extremely high

Fair enough but what if with that cap space you sign someone like Hall or Hoffman and run a top 6 of: Connor-Scheiffle-Wheeler Hall/Hoffman-Kempe-Ehlers. Not saying it’s ideal but...

To expand on this, the jets already have an adrian kempe in their system but he's younger and plays essentially the same role. Roslovic and Kempe are both players drafted at center, have seen top 6 time on the wing but haven't been trusted to play center in the top 6 for good reason. If the Jets were interested in using a kempe type as an experiment at 2C, they don't have to look beyond their current roster

Not gonna set up a trade for each team. Just wouldnt be shocked if these teams were enticed to make an offer if this really got the interest of WPG's management.
Anaheim
Nashville
Montreal
Ottawa if they were willing to give up picks
Chicago
Calgary
Flyers
All these team imo. Not saying they should or will. But this is a lackluster offer for an RFA on the brink of being a consistent 40 goal scorer.

I think it's a bit to the advantage of the Kings here. Kempe works better as a winger they tried him as a center and it sort of throws his game off, I think the Kings would probably be crazy not to take this deal. Kempe, Grunstrom, a high 2nd rounder, and a protected 1st is a steal. The Kings could probably flip this at the deadline while retaining and get more back.

Hoffman is 31 next season and Hall has had injury problems the last few years. I would hope chevy is smarter than to sign either of those guys to any term

This is a complete steal for the Kings.
I don't think they get Laine without giving up Vilardi or Turcotte.

Yeah I think undervalued Laine a good amount here. I’m just reluctant to think he’ll get a kings ransom (no pun intended lol). He just seems so one dimensional even though he does that one thing damn well...

Ya but if you can get Hoffman on a 4 year deal or Hall under 10m I say you do it. But at any rate, WPG can do better for Line so it’s moot...

I think Laine’s lived up to his 2nd overall potential and more so far in the NHL. The 2nd oa pick from LA would most likely be the price.
