NYR Wont Happen But Should It

Created by: MartysBetter29
Team: 2020-21 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 2, 2020
Published: Oct. 2, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Devils need a big winger Rangers need a skilled center...Maybe a little 2019 Draft redo?
Also I know Rossi won't be slotting in as an NHL 2nd line center this year, just showing that he fills the spot and makes the Hughes trade make sense for NJ

With the hindsight that we were going to get Lafrenière, the only thing that we did that I'd revisit is resigning Kreider.

But it was impossible to know that we were getting Lafrenière back then

I agree tbh. We need Hughes more than we need Kakko but both teams made their picks.

This might be one of the stupidest comments I’ve ever seen... laf would’ve been the number 1 pick if he was in last years draft

In 4 years its a M-NTC and same with trouba. both contract have some front loading and can have some retained salary when sending to a poor team..

No way. Laf is good, but Hughes still would have gone ahead of him.

They are like 4 months apart...both 2001's...have played in many of the same tournaments and Jack easily outplayed laf in each.

Not at all, Laffy scores 40 goals at 16 years old, he's a beast and brings more to the table in terms of the overall play

Kakko> hughes

tears of joy Kakko played actual professional hockey against grown men in Liiga the year before he came over to the NHL. Hughes played in the USHL, a Jr. league. Yet, somehow they both put up relatively equal stats this season.

Your Ranger goggles aren't clouding your vision, are they?

If u watch his play this season he was too scared to shoot and didnt adapt to the North American game well. If you watched him in the playoffs, the 3 short games he had, he was a beast and was lookin good.

not exactly the same caliber lol

Devils may have selected Hughes but overall Lafrenière's just ahead. His physical game is second to none and he does every single thing right. Hughes has yet to prove that

He is...always has been.

Here is when they have faced off....

2017 World Hockey Challenge: Hughes 15 pts, Laf 6 pts (both 6 gp)
2018 World U18: Hughes 12 pts, Laf 6 pts (Hughes won tournament MVP as 16 yr old)
2019 World Juniors: Hughes injured, still put up 1 ppg, Laf had 1 secondary assist in 5 games

What has Lafreniere proved that Hughes has not?!

Lafreniere was playing junior hockey as 18-year old. Hughes was playing in NHL.

He's consistently proven that his overall game is just better.

Also lol you can't blame Lafrenière for being born too late how stupid is your argument?

Laf will be better, laf has been the best prospect in the draft since McDavid. Not just my opinion, it’s also Elliott Friedman’s and bob mckenzies

He has not. I am trying to educate you here a little...

Hughes and Lafreniere are both 2001s. They have played in many of the same competitions. In each one, Hughes far outplayed Laf.

Because of the birth cutoff for NHL, Hughes went, Laf stayed in junior hockey.

One cannot compare the NHL to the Q. Miles apart. Men in former, boys in latter.
