For you and any Wild fan; SJ confirmed they will only move picks early for a trade up or a draft selection. So firstly no picks form 2020 being moved here, and then again we probably shouldn’t/ wouldn’t for this package IMO

Agreed why would we spend 4.3 on Dubnyk who was horrific over Khudobin or Greiss

The SJ deal is fine for the Wild.
The ARI deal isn't great for the Wild.
The FLA is flat out bad for the Wild.

The Wild could retain a full 50% (2.16M). Done.

IMO even as a sharks fan I think doing that probably means sharks add more then, like another pick or over aged prospect

No it's fine, really. The 2nd and 3rd are enough. We definitely don't need more roster players.

I think the SJS/Wild trade is going to just end up being something bizarre with retained money, conditional picks, and random prospect f involved.

I don't particularly see Guerin retaining. Dubnyk's cap hit is $4.33M, but his actual paid salary for next year is $2.53M. At full retention, the Sharks basically get him for free.

Which now that I think about it, is what we got Rutherford to do on the Bjugstad trade. So maybe just trying to get Dubnyk a change of scenery, while clearing cap for something bigger? I really don't know what to make of this.

A buyout, without the buyout.

I don't see a problem with retention by MN. clearing a roster spot and saving $2m in is worth making him go away. Even if they passed him though waivers he'd only save $1m in cap and still have him on the 50 man roster.

I guess if SJS doesn't see him as a cap dump and want him as a productive player the retention is a rather moot point.

That is true.
