I've seen him plenty sparky

Uh huh, sure you have. Thats why your visual evaluation reads **** someone who stopped watching him the moment he was traded out west.

Doesnt matter where he played, I watch a lot of hockey and know what he does.
Among the best in the league he is not.
You're just dwelling on his size and offensive stats.

Yeah, i was joking mostly at first, but yep, you havent seen much of him lately. And if you think his offensive stats are good, you should see his defensive ones

You werent joking, you actually believe he is among the best in the world instead of just a good defender.
He isn't as great as you say.

"A Norris Canditate for a mediocre 1B".
What? I'm sorry, but Frederik Anderson is a proven starter, defiantly not a 1B. Guess what, the canes are desperate for a starter. And you left out how there is also a first, 15th overall in a strong draft, and a great young defenceman. I get it, Hamilton is a great defenceman, but he on the last year of his contract (yes, I know Freddy is too), and therefore does not have the ridiculous value canes fans think he has. He's not worth Nylander.

You gotta be joking. Dougie Hamilton is not worth Nylander? I know Leafs fans have a stigma for overvaluing their players but holy ****. I can promise you that we would rather roll with Mrazek and Reimer again before trading Dougie for a marginal upgrade over what we have.

When somebody tells me that guy is one of the best defenders in the league and backs it up with "yup, he is because I say so" then it has to be for something. Based on this conversation with you I have to assume its for something as ridiculous as being 6'6"

when somebody tells me a guy is over rated and backs it up with an outdated "i watched him play!" analysis and then proceeds to ignore the actual stats that show why he's both a very good offensive AND defensive defender which fits nicely with the asserted "hes one of the best defencemen in the league" and then assumes it's because of a reason the other person never even mentioned, they look pretty hilarious

so is reading comprehension apparently. Your visual "i watched him play" report is outdated because you clearly havent seen him play since he was a Bruin if that was how you see his game., as previously said. Not actually watching the game. Way to go bahd

I watched in Boston, I watched in Calgary (one of my favourite teams) and I watched in Carolina as well.
He isn't among the best in the world

yeah, well i mean he was pretty darned good before his back gave out, but i never said he was one of the better defenders in the NHL. Though i suppose the gap between Gardiner being pretty darned good and the hilariously reactionary "he's the worst defender in the NHL" rep he got from people who dont know what they are watching is bigger than Hamilton's very good rep to his actual one of the best defenders in the NHL

I didn't have to read past "before his back gave out"
No, he wasn't good before that, he was never a great defender and always had poor hockey IQ.
Your opinion gets worse the more I read from you

of course you read past that, you're too dramatic not to. And yeah, that tracks with your ability to judge players by watching em. Poor as all get out.

Any stats that say that the likes of Gards and Doug are among the best defenders in the world are flawed. That's just a simple truth. You'd know that if you watched the game.

my my back with the reading comprehension. No one said Gardiner was among the best in the world, just that he was a pretty good defender where his critics thought he was a low IQ player because they dont know what they are watching.
And Hamilton is among the best defenders in the league, stats, visuals etc. Unless of course you want to say that all the other players they show as elite arnt elite either. Bergeron, Stone, Hedman, etc etc etc. They all must be over rated too right? Best defenders are guys like pavel zacha and prime roman polak eh?

Dougie Hamilton is not worth Nylander, not even close. Why should a rental defenceman be worth a 24 year old really good forward under contract (at a fair price) for 4 more years? It doesn't matter how good he is, he's not getting someone like Nylander in a trade.

oh by who? and that doesnt matter even if it wasnt a hilarious lie you were making up for some reason, i never said it, the stats never said it and it isnt of relevance to Hamilton being among the best in the world.
You're out of steam Hoss, time to pack it in.
