Maybe switch Buch with Gauthier and add the Boston pick, what would you add to the TDA trade

The a Rangers don’t have the pieces that it would take to acquire Danault. I’d suggest looking elsewhere.

Really? There’s nothing you would want in return for a 2C in our organization? Hahahahaha

Out of Curiousity what do you value Danault at, like if you were to trade him for a pick what overall pick is he worth

Nothing that both teams would be interested in.

Try me. Don’t you guys need a top 6 winger? Buch and 2 3rds for Danault extended is a pretty good deal for both sides...

I think he meant it as the Rangers wouldn’t be willing to give up what he’d want

I don't like spending so many assets for DeAngelo when we could get DeMelo (who fits us better) for 4 years at $3.75 million without costing us anything.

I value Danault a lot, and I’d only trade him if he isn’t willing to sign an extension with the habs, but is willing to sign an extension with the team he is traded to. If he won’t sign an extension at all, I’d rather keep him as an internal rental. If we were to trade him (with an extension in place) I’d say probably ~ 8th or 9th overall in this year’s draft would get it done.

Buch and Carolina’s 1st might move the needle a bit but Danault is highly valued in Montreal. Local guy who gets Selke votes every year. One of the most efficient 2 way Cs in the league, consistant over 50 pts player

I already traded that but I acquired Bostons pick so I'll do that and 2 thirds

I’d want someone of similar skill level, not a package of lesser assets. The problem is that the Rangers have a lot of high end talent, and a lot of not so high end talent, and little in-between. So there’s no one that fits, unless Lundkvist is available. (Which I know he’s not)

I mean Buch is not that far off from Danault. He’s not as defensively elite but he’s not defensively incompetent. He as good even strength defensive metrics. And I’d say there equal offensive players with Buch having a tad more upside...

The thing is that the habs need quality back if we’re trading Danault. We can’t afford to downgrade him, because we have more than enough quantity, but not enough quality. And the defensive aspect of Danault’s game would be sorely missed, his offense wouldn’t be hard to replace.

Montreal doesn’t want to trade Danault, would take at least that to get him honestly

Sure if Blues were rebuilding. He’s a 22 year old and our best LHD this doesn’t help the Blues in anyway with what we are trying to do.

A massive overvaluation of DeAngelo. He was previously traded for a 2nd rounder in his career. Most goals he has in his career was 15. Now you wanna acquire a solid D prospect, a former first rounder in Lundestrom and a 1st. There is other value in the UFA that can provide the same stats without trading assets for it and that comes with less previous discipline issues. Issues that in today’s world, won’t be taken well.

For context on value for. DeAngelo... see the Kase trade by the ducks to bruins at the deadline. The ducks sent over a middle 6 forward with similar production to DeAngelo in Kase. In return the got Axelson, Boston’s first (the same one you’re trying to acquire) and The Ducks has to take Backes and his salary cap hit. Keep in mind Toronto had to give up a first to get someone to take on Marleaus cap hit. A well respected player with leadership skills and no history of poor personal conduct.

The ducks have plenty of middle 6 talent (they lack top end scoring). This deal doesn’t happen with the ducks and you need to lower your expectations.

This has always been the problem. You guys always have 2-3 2nd lines. Never a star with potential to dictate the game. Exception is Price.. he can win on his own. I totally agree that you guys need to focus on looking for elite players up front
