Description
*** Have Fun Blasting My AGM***
*Abby, Helm and Nielsen get buried. They were all part of what's wrong with this team and a major reason for last year's team performance. I know, that's $10.2M sitting in GR. Abby is a possible buy-out after next season.
*The Helm and Glenny contracts expire after 20-21 opening up spots for Veleno and this year's 4OA (hopefully Rossi) if they're ready for the NHL.
*Nielsen will only have one year left after the 20-21 season.
*Guys like Rasmussen, Zadina and others' development will be stunted playing on a line with any of those three that I buried (IMHO.)
*The Wings need a second line center. I picked Haula, you pick whomever you like in your AGM. I did a 3 year term because I don't think that he'd sign a shorter deal. I don't know if the $3.5M is enough but feel free to pipe in.
*I also think a capable second veteran signing on a shorter term deal is appropriate. I don't know if I'm even close on the contract for Brassard or if he is even the right selection. Again, feel free to pipe in.
*Finally, I signed Markstrom because I have read that is the goalie that Yzerman wants to sign.
I am under no delusion that this team is going to make the playoffs but I think that it's an improvement over last season and 20-21 will not be a total embarrassment like 19-20 was.

I would just say no to markstrom and brassard 1 year only, the rest is fine.

Helm will get traded for a pick at the deadline

Frans has a nmc so we can't send him down

I think your free agent signings are about right, should sign Mantha and Bertuzzi for longer though.

You’re right, I forgot Nielsen’s NMC. He can hang out in the press box with Mickey Redmond and drink ginger ales this coming season.

I did Mantha shorter because I read in the Detroit press that contract length was the hang up. A rumor is just a rumor. I’d prefer Mantha be signed long term too.

Didn’t think about his NMC. He can hang out in the press box with Mickey Redmond drinking ginger ale‘s all season.

Frans only has a Mod-NTC so yes he can be sent down, The NMC was only like the 1st year and expansion protection from Vegas.

@will9739 sorry to say, but Markstrom has explicitly said that he will not be signing with a rebuilding team and pointed out Detroit.

I must have missed that. I’ve been looking to see if he had said anything or was quoted in the press anywhere.

That's a lot of cap for one of the worst teams in 19-20.

edit: you didn't put Zetterberg on LTIR nevermind

$6M in additional cap space if needed by moving Zetterberg to LTIR. I agree, Holland left this team in **** condition. I also have $10.2M buried in the AHL. Cap isn’t an issue at this point and the owner is a billionaire.

Apparently TSN 1040 reported that.

I’d keep Helm in the NHL so we can get something for him at the deadline. Even a 4th or 5th perhaps.

Yzerman said he wants to try Fabbri at 2C, but having Haula as a backup (and on the wing on the same line) certainly doesn’t hurt any.

I’d give Svech a roster spot before Brome, but I also want to give Svech one last chance before we decide he’s not NHL material. Filps might have to be C, Luke on RW and Svech LW for that to happen maybe.

Fair enough, Svech has to get into the line up this year; it's his make or break season. Yzerman will probably take that approach with Helm but I don't see any team wanting Helm at the deadline. Helm has been on the decline for the last couple of years. Not that he has ever been that spectacular. Sure, Helm is a fast skater but a player needs to be good at passing and shooting as well. Unless he makes some kind of amazing transition in the first 20 games of the season he needs to go.
