Wilson specifically said he will not be trading any picks this year, and if he gives up a first it won’t be for Done Dubnyk
Unless he wants to be fired!!!

#SJSharks Wilson says quality of NHL Draft will dictate a lot of decisions next week, "If I'm looking to acquire, for example, a goaltender, I would prefer to not have to use picks from this year. Every draft season is different. This one is a deep draft."

I saw! I’ve been posing it in all these min postings thinking they’re going to fleece the sharks

That would be a historically bad trade for Minnesota so hopefully it's true

Wouldn’t be the first bad trade between sharks and Wild

I'm actually losing my mind. The only way a 1st is involved is if Martin Jones is going back the other way.

It’s been really stupid right from the very start in terms of the trade itself which I despise the idea of. But it’s just gotten more and more ludicrous as time passes. Completely agree.

Wilson is a smart man and has made tons of logical smart trades, he’s never made a head scratcher like this, has me thinking there are other factors involved.... let see how this plays out but I am starting to have faith Wilson has a plan in place he has never done a stupid trade, they might not have worked out like they were suppose to but I don’t think Wilson has ever had a trade where people asked “what the hell is he doing”

He is a smart guy and I'm just as confused as you are here. Unless the intention is to flip Dubnyk, I just...I don't know where the logic is on this one. But hey it hasn't happened yet and we don't know all the details, so we'll see what ends up happening. Let's hope this isn't his first "what the hell was he thinking?" trade in awhile.

Just to play devil's advocate:
While I think a 1st is a ridiculous overpayment for Dub+Donato, nobody ever said it was this year's 1st that was going to MN. It could be a future conditional 1st or something.

I don’t get the interest in Dubnyk either, especially at that cost, but it got me to thinking. You traded Goodrow for a 1st at the deadline and people were surprised by the return since he was a bottom 6 guy. If you’re Wilson and you view Donato as a top 6 guy (with team control) and Dubnyk as a vet that can be your back up, is that worth a 1st? Or at least is it worth Goodrow? Just thinking out loud.

1. That tweet is citing a small Pittsburgh reporter, who is allegedly citing something Sheng Peng said, but I can't find anywhere he said that. I'm calling complete BS

2. DW has very clearly stated he is NOT moving the 2020 picks for a goalie, and is hesitant to move them at all (even up or down).

3. SJ's idea is to have a Jones-Dubnyk tandem per Pierre LeBrun, which pretty rules out that Jones would be going the other way.
