Personally i think Sweeney has been a pretty bad GM. I don’t trust him with a decision of this magnitude.

really? I think it has sneaky been hard to be the Bruins gm, just because of who came before.

You mean the guy that built most of Sweeney’s success? Chiarelli was 100 times the GM Sweeney has been. Sweeney drafted McAvoy, Carlo fell in his lap, and he’s signed a couple good extensions.

Then you’ve got the really bad stuff he’s done. There’s a lot.

Standard procedure to ask players with NTC’s for their list in the offseason even if there is nothing in the works.

Avs are really the only team that makes sense.

Boston fans have taken Tuukka for granted for years. I can't wait til they find out that the next guy isn't going to be as good Tuukka.

Boston fans are the worst (I say that as one, possibly dumbest group of fans outside of Washington).

I don't want him gone, and I have been a huge tuukka supporter, but If he's getting traded, they better get something good.

More the anti-Rask. I know lots of people that like him, know how good he is and how hard it is to find a goalie of this caliber; at the same time they're the ones that understand hockey so I'm not surprised of the rest. If I wasn't planning to be a Bruins fan after Rask is gone, would sure wish them (anti-Rask crowd) to get the worst G ever in NHL history so maybe they realize how good he was.

but I think this is different. Because his name is out there, and some teams may be looking his way.

We’ll see. I figured they’d try this offseason.

I don't see him being traded. Might as well look what his value is with an expiring deal. His future is too uncertain. Out of nowhere he could say he wants to retire, so I think this is just standard protocol for a valuable veteran with 1yr remaining.

True story. However after opting out, retirement likely coming, 1 year left, 7m cap hit....attempting to moving him seemed inevitable.

Depends on the offer. They won’t move him just for the sake of moving him. They get an offer they like....

It’s doubtful. I only see 1 or 2 teams that really work.

I agree but the teams inquiring are definitely going to have apprehensions about him, injury history and his family matters will play a part regardless of if it's fair or not. I think it's best he play out his last year and remain in Boston and retire.

As a Bruins fan, he gets WAY more hate than he deserves, I just dont get it. Hes tied for the BEST SAVE PERCENTAGE OF ALL TIME (I get the game has changed but still a crazy feat) and has the 9th best playoff SV% of all time. Hes got crazy ability to take over games. I really hope they dont trade him

Really you think so?

Marchand - drafted pre PC
Bergeron - drafted pre PC
Pasta - (like Carlo with DS) fell into his lap
Krejci - drafted pre PC

So for the remaining guys from this year roster that where either here when PC was or drafted by PC....

Bjork
Chara
Krug
Grz
Rask

I know Sweeney get a lot of flak for the 2015 draft, but under PC our drafting was pretty bad. There were 48 players drafted by the Bruins during PC's tenure

38% - never played in an NHL game
75% - failed to to play more than 100 NHL games

The top 5 producing picks from the PC era:

Seguin - Who he later traded
Pastrnak - fell into his lap
Hamilton - Traded by Sweeney after Hamilton refused to sign with Boston
Spooner - no longer in the NHL
Joe Colborne - no longer in the NHL

The next 5 guys after that....

Heinen - traded by DS
Benning - never played in Boston
Donato - traded by DS
Grzelcyk - currently w/ team
Bjork - currently with team

While he did help bring a cup to Boston, he killed Boston with bad contracts after that and gave out NMC/NTC's like their were no big deal.

Didn’t realize it was only a discussion about drafting. However, i will point out, if you think that Chiarelli wasn’t in charge of the marchand draft, you’re the biggest sucker on the planet.

Wanna talk about bad contracts? Beleskey and Backes still on the damn payroll this season.

The drafting was better under Chiarelli.

Sweeney can take credit for Carlo, McAvoy, Cassidy, and a great extension for Marchand and Pasta.

He’s been horrible aside from that.

He wasn't allowed to participate in the draft by the NHL. Did he secretly have some involvement? Maybe, maybe not. There's no proof he was in charge of the 2016 draft. Assuming he was is just foolish

Sweeney can't take credit for DeBrusk? Lauzon? Coyle (and his extension) Halak?

There’s more than enough evidence to put the pieces together. Chara profusely thanking Chiarelli for bringing him to Boston is a big one. Another big clue is Gorton. You think he was on the job for a hot minute, drafted Kessel, Lucic, Marchand, traded for Tuukka, signed Chara, and Savard, and took a decade to get another job offer? It’s a horribly kept secret that Chiarelli was running the show.

You want credit for a backup goalie, a 2nd round damn that’s played a few games and looked good, and a solid 3rd line center that’s probably a bit overpaid now? Knock yourself out. Pretty low bar, don’t ya think?

Chara was pretty well known seeing as they both were in Ottawa lol. We can agree to disagree. It isn't the first time and won't be the last lol

The anti Tuukka Bruins fans are in for a rude awakening because there's no surefire NHL option coming through the pipes, and there aren't any options available to Boston who are anywhere near Tuukka. I don't know how you trade Rask and improve your goaltending situation. I don't even know if you can trade him and break even on your goaltending situation.

Meh. I’m not a big agree to disagree guy. If you want to ignore evidence, be my guest.

It’s really freaking obvious.
