I think carolina accepts but the extension is a big part of the trade value so it also depends on that

I think the canes would consider that. My guess is they would say make the pick 2021 and it’s a deal

Reimer needs to be a 2nd

As for Nuge, this is a no go. Askarov + Nino + Fleury + a 2nd is too much of an overpay. Maybe drop the first and upgrade Fleury to Bean would get Carolina considering.

reimer for a 2nd isn't happening
bean, nino, and a 2nd with no 1st involved is just a dumb trade for the Oilers. RNH is a 1st line wing/2nd line center who's solid defensively and can get 60 points. We aren't trading him for table scraps.

Carolina aren't going to overpay for someone who would be their 3C or 2nd line winger. There's no way the Canes part with a 1st for Edmonton's 3rd best center because he is a scrap. As for RNH being able to get 60 points and being great defensively... okay? Nino is great defensively and can get 55-60 points. Why do Carolina make this trade?

wdym would be their 3C? He's their 2C easily. Much better than Vincent Trochek or whoever they have there. And about him being "Edmonton's 3rd best center", well duh. Do you know who plays ahead of him?

Nino was on pace for 35 points this year. not "55-60 points"
RNH was on pace for 77 points this year.

this is a very uneducated take

Yet somebody else liked it which is confusing Nino isn't even close to RNH level. I'll say this trade makes the expansion draft much tougher 100% going to lose a good defender.

I'm an outsider on this evaluation, but this seems like a decent trade.

EDM
Fleury, Haydn [RFA Rights]
Niederreiter, Nino
2020 2nd round pick (NYR)
2020 1st round pick (TOR)
CAR
Nugent-Hopkins, Ryan
Additional Details:
Nuge extended

RNH is a very good player, who's going to get a very nice raise next year. This trade doesn't help with Edmonton's cap issue this year, but addresses next years (because of the RNH raise). Fleury gives EDM another NHL level D, but when added to Niederreiter cap, it is higher than RNH. The value here is that #13 overall pick, and to a lesser degree, the #41 pick.

So this is standard for a good player, a 1st, a prospect, and a roster player. This offer is a 1st, a prospect with the 2nd, and two roster players, aged 24 & 28. Niederreiter is a middle6 winger, and Fleury is a 3rd pair D, that can play both sides.

Take it or don't take it, it doesn't matter, but the value and the reasoning for the trade is there, IMO.

Ottawa portion, that #41 gets flipped to Ottawa for the #64 pick, for taking the Russell contract, for 1 year. I would do this trade, and try to flip Russell at the deadline for another, lower pick, after 3/4 of his cap has expired.

Nino was on pace for 40 points with a PDO down the toilet. RNH was on pace for 77 points with Connor McDavid as his center. You're taking base stats to mean too much, and you're making yourself look foolish. Nino has up and down years, and 40 point seasons are usually followed by 50 point ones. But you don't wanna argue with facts right?
