I don't see this happening honestly, it's two dead contracts a 1st and a 3rd+prospect for OEL and they just cut Grabner yesterday even if his salary was basically the same as Sutter.
In my opinion the only way Vancouver has to get OEL is putting Edler in the deal. He's owned 1 million this year, since his signing bonus has already been payed, and he's on the last year of his contract so Arizona has the chance to flip him again to another team at the deadline if the season goes bananas, the problem is he has a NMC and I doubt he will waive after the reports of late paydays in ARZ, very hard deal for the Nucks to pull off

I think the value ARZ receives for OEL could be surprising.

I remember when Kessler wanted out of VAN and handcuffed them with a 1-2 team trade list. VAN had little leverage and as a result got a poor return. If I remember right it was a late first, an at the time ok 3C (Bonino later turned out to be a good 3C), and a 7th Dman.
I think ARZ actually has significantly less leverage in this situation than VAN did in the Kessler trade when you take into consideration were in a global financial crises, the owner is desperate to cut salary and there’s a flat cap.

Beglund and sobotka were pretty well dead contracts as well. Arizona will be shedding a whole hell of a lot of salary by getting rid of OEL's 8.25 over the next 7. I hear what you're saying though, no way edler waves so that's not going to happen but what about Loui or then? Loui only has $4 mill left In salary over the next two years. Remove sutter and baertschi and replace them with loui and Jake. I think that's the best deal Van could afford to give to make this work.

This is a good point and Benning was the GM at the time too. So if we assume the same value we've got 1st round pick 2021, sutter (bonino), Benn (sbisa). And then the Canucks get a 3rd back with OEL. I mean, the Canucks take that in a heartbeat. Lol

Agree, probably that's the best they can come out with. What's bad is they have half of the roster signed with NTC and NMC so the wiggling is pretty limited
