If Krug turned down 6 x $6,500,000 from Boston he sure as hell isn't signing for 4 x $6,700,000 from Pittsburgh that's even lesser money. Some team will offer him 6 x $7,000,000 or possibly slightly higher.

Yeah, I know he has been very good in Finland, just wanted as pens fan to get rid of Johnson and thought that Rangers might perhaps need experienced dman, and also thought that Pajuniemi would be good in the future for penguins.

Okay, didn´t know that Boston offered that much... how about Barrie for 4 x 6,250,000 would it be good deal for the player and the team?

We just traded away our “experienced dman” who stunk. We don’t need another “experienced dman” who stinks more. And you’d be paying us to take him, not us giving you a prospect.

Why would they trade Matheson (and retain to do so) before he plays a game?

Zero chance the Flames accept that. You could retain 50% and we still decline. Matheson is hot garbage, I don't know why Rutherford was stupid enough to trade for him without getting a sweetner.

Better question is why was he traded for in the first place, he's not a good player.

Yeah, also wonder why they trade him, that is why I wanted to immediately trade him away.

Not a pens nor cats fan but I know he was a good player when he was younger. Has he pulled a Maata development curve?

Perhaps, just as a Pens fans and watching Florida games closely, he was really bad last season. And with a long quite high value contract I don´t want to see him playing for Pittsburgh. I mean they also have Johnson and Pettersson with quite valued contracts compared to how they play, so that´s why I wanted to trade him immediately. Maatta was solid on Pens cup winning years, but I guess after that he struggled with injuries and didn´t come back as the same player he used to be.

Maatta was great for like 3 years until like 22 and then has regressed. It's really weird. I suspect it's injuries.

Look at a former pen like Whitney. He was a number 1 D and out of the league by like 29 or 30 for injuries.

I think if you combined Maatta and Matheson you'd actually have a really good defenseman. Maatta has the ability to think the game, make smart choices and be a good defensive player, he just doesn't have the skating to allow him to be effective at at. Matheson has some offensive ability and can skate, every other part of his game is brutal. A franesteined Micholli Maatteson would be a star,

That is very true, but unfortunately as themselves they both are quite bad. Matheson makes too many bad choices and as u said Maattas skating is too bad.

Just thought it was ironic that he brought up Maatta when the problems the two have are completely opposite
