It bothers me when people trade away Rielly. I know he's not the end all or be all of defensemen, but he's going to be OUR guy. He signed a really quality contract for the maple leafs, he's willing to learn anything that will make him better, he's got great leadership qualities. He handles the media well and last year when the Leafs tried protecting Phaneuf a bit he stepped up his game to help the team out. I know most people think Lindholm is better than Rielly, and that could be a fair assessment but that really doesn't reflect well when you trade away a guy like Rielly.

I agree with LeafsFan regarding Rielly and nurturing "your own". Current Leaf management has not traded any of "their" prospects. And the trade isn't necessarily any better for the Leafs.
Ritchie is still a prospect at wing....don't the Leafs have enough of those? Rakell is playing out of position on wing....not sure if they Leafs need Rakell that much. And Lindholm is he that much better Rielly?
And that Trouba trade...Leipsic was placed and unclaimed on waivers...so how valuable is he really in trade value.

Fair enough about Rielly. I wouldn't want nor do I think the leafs would trade rielly. I agree that he is developing and our guy but I think that lindholm is better all around. The jist of what I would like to do with a leafs ducks trade would be to take on salary so they can sign there guys and take a prospect in return. Maybe Stoner and jones for corrando.

Leipsic wasn't claimed by another team when demoted because he is still exempt and did not have to pass through waivers.
