I feel like if you want Hall for less than 6 or 7 years it’s gonna cost more as this is his big chance to cash in, and it’s gonna have to be at least 2-3 years term (Avs offered Panarin 4 years at a huge number apparently so maybe they offer Hall 3x10 or smth)

Hawks so no, Carlsson is promising and fills a need on LD. Our RD is already too crowded.

Yeah I think you’ll need to give more on a one year deal.

Make Hall choose between signing a 7 year $9M with a lower tier team, or sign a one year $12M deal yo go win a cup with the Avs, increase his stock playing with Mack, and hopefully cap goes up next year and he can still get the term at higher AAV.

Nobody is giving Hall $11M much less $12M for a year in a flat cap.

He’ll get 9M on a long term deal by a lesser team. We’ll need to overpay for a one year deal. Way too much risk for him to take on if he gets injured. (Which he tends to do)

What contender is going to give him $9+? STL, TBL, BOS, DAL, NYI, CAR, VAN, VGK, WAS, PIT would all at the least have to do serious moves to make him fit. Add in reports he would consider a short term deal and we will see how much he values winning because odds are next years cup winner comes from that group.

I don’t think he’ll get $9M from a contender without serious cap gymnastics. I said “lesser team.”

I hear you on the reports that he wants to play for a true contender and may consider a short term deal. When that turns into 6 years @ 9M versus 1 year at 9M he’ll have a great chance to put his money where his mouth is.

I hope I’m wrong here but players tend to follow the term and $ unless they are resigning with their current team and take a discount to keep that group together. (Lehner signing)

History tells us the largest UFAs chase money and don’t land on contenders. Every hockey player wants to win until they realize chasing a cup could cost them tens of millions of dollars.
2019: Panarin to NYR
2018: Tavares to TOR (depending on how you viewed their contending status)
2016: Lucic to EDM and Okposo to BUF (although yikes on both)

I guess we’ll see how it shakes out.
