Mentoring the 2 young french kids and it gives actual linemates to chytil to help him develop, danault will still get his fair share of ice time though, a 1st and a young C with NHL experience isn't a bad offer

i understand the sentiment of getting him but that offer is horrendous for NYR. We have panarin ziba, krieder all great leaders/teachers we do not need danualt for that

Mika is the only one who can play on the same line as him and he doesnt have the complete defensive game that danault has and can use to teach laf because the offense will come to him easily

I don't think Danault would stay if he's going to be a 3C, he was frustrated with his offensive time as is. if he's moved it's for a 2C role.

Normally i'd love this but if we move Danault its not to bring in a Center as we still need to move Domi to wing as is

I actually love the package though so ignoring MTL's got way to many Centers right now its value is fair.
Personally i'd love Brendan Lemieux in the package as he's currently everything MTL needs adding Size and Hitting power with the added benefit of him being a good fighter known to protect his team mates which we need Desperately.

Howdens better then Lemieux its just MTL's LW Is our issue long term as is the lack of hitting power in our bottom 6 since Thompson departed.
I know NYR likely wouldnt want to give up Lemieux but its how you get this deal done i think as we simply dont need another center unless he can put up 20-30 points a year while Hitting , Blocking shots and winning 53-55% faceoffs .

Domi's been great up until the Pandemic with 116 points in 154 games since switching to Center for the first time since AA hockey with a 44% win rate year one and 49% win rate year two as he becomes more well rounded and adjusted to the position. Suzuki's been a stud and needs no hype . Kotkanemi has come back strong with the Pandemic buying him the time he needed to heal his injuries and heal his body . Evans and Poehling could both make a case for playing 4th Center with Evans earning the right to play 4th line RW thus far and looking for an upgrade .

MTL in this scenario is in a prime position and they could also bring Thompson back to help Poehling manage the work load hoping he has even half the impact on Poehling he had playing 20 games with Suzuki as Nick credits him for turning his season around it only makes sense to go to the well again with Poehling this time.

I'd only move lemieux for lehkonen

He'll get ice time playing with laf, and hes gonna be our #1 PK'er too

I like the value from a Mtl standpoint, as long as it's a part of a plan where we need the Alzner cap space (i.e. deal for Laine or a T.Hall signing). As it stands right now tho, we still can afford to eat Alzner's contract and maximize Danault's value (as a member of the team as well as in a trade). And if we can convince Danult to sign ands stay long term, I have no problem with the idea of a strong and deep center line.

Alzner isnt difficult to move as people think. Low salary. Add to the fact that they dont need to move him this year. Next year could be easily done for a 3rd rounder. Alzner shouldn't be included in any trade talks this year. Habs dont need the extra cap, he'll go to the minors. Next season will be bought out most likely.

Danault isnt going anywhere. Bergevin has been talking with his camp, same agency as Petry.

You got it. Meaningless to dump Alzner unless they pull a miracle (which they wont) with Hall or Laine
