TOR needs reliable foward at low cost. I don't think they can get better than this Spezza contract. Bonus : Leadership + hometown boy

2 years in a row Leafs have got this steal. These are the little moves that Dubas rarely gets credit for, but make a big difference

Dubas has zero influence on whether or not Spezza wants to take a hometown discount. His only job is to approve it.

Filling your 4th line with vets is not a bad thing, especially when you're team is pretty young

my friend sent me a funny idea. Simmonds and Thorton sign league min and the 4th line is

Simmonds-Thorton-Spezza.

Would not mind seeing that.

I guess having the weirdest laugh in the NHL means you get paid well into your late 30s. In all seriousness though, Spezza is a phenomenal 4th line center, hope he gets a Cup before retiring.

I do credit Spezza. But if you think Lou makes this signing you are dreaming. Takes two to tango... Don't make yourself sound naive.

I'm pretty sure any GM in the league would take Spezza at league minimum with this roster and being so cap strapped...

Dubas has literally no pull in Spezza signing in Toronto for the league minimum.

$10,500,000 x 6 years = 33 year old Price
- $7,900,000 x 6 years = 35 year old Weber
- $6,300,000 x 5 years = 33 year old Petry
- $4,600,000 x 5 years = AHL D-man Alzner
- $3,500,000 x 4 years = AHL D-man Edmondson

Something something something glass bilingual real estate.

On the contrary, a nice pull from Dubas is probably what closed the deal for Spezza.

The fact that you think that shows how oblivious you are to the process.
